    That’s outrageous!

Then what incentive is there for them to come and culturally enrich the USA?

It should also be restricted to those who have become citizens.

Welfare is one of the most destructive forces in our society today. Once an individual goes on welfare the longer the duration the more hooked on it they become making the government act like a drug dealer. It’s effects are worse the younger the person is and if they grew up on it. The idea of receiving money for nothing without any form of limitation on duration or obligation to find a job much like employment insurance is morally reprehensible and self destructive. Not have any structure in one life (through employment) particularly when someone is young leads to self destructive behaviors such as alcoholism, drug addiction or criminal activity as way for someone to pass the time. Welfare should have a time limit (especially an end to generational welfare), it should be conditional to find permanent employment and limited to citizens not illegals and temporary residents. I can not stand the sight of an able body person particularly a male out on the street with a sign that says “I need money please give” or something similar when they are capable of work but are too lazy.

Come to Sunny Ways Canada – your welfare cheque is waiting along with free prescription drugs, emergency dental and free medical care and maybe even a TCHC apartment.

On the other hand according to the Toronto Star – We are heartless – this poor lady is being evicted from the Toronto Community Housing 3 bedroom townhouse she’s lived in for 3 decades as it is being torn down (to be replaced by a new one) …and the lady was told since she is single – she will only qualify for a one bedroom apartment in a high rise. The heartless horror – she has a fear of heights, she can’t garden in a high rise and her grand children won’t have separate bedrooms when they come to visit.

I can’t understand the lack of shame – I wouldn’t want my picture in the Star proudly proclaiming that I have been a leech for 30 years.

Its sounds good on the surface but this has actually been the law in the US since 1996!

Refugee’s are exempt from the five year requirement. Not clear if Trump wants to include refugees in this requirement.

Will the government pay off any debts they owe to people smugglers?

Or food stamps or government paid medical treatment etc. Good start.

If anyone goes to a hospital emergency room for treatment, he must be treated even if he is uninsured and flat broke.

That is true even though few Canadians know it.

So much winning for the U.S.A. Makes me so depressed that we have the selfie prince as figurehead of our swiftly declining country.

Well, when we had Harper and they had Obama it was the same in reverse. At least there is that.

Perhaps that’s why so many ‘refugees’ are now crossing the border into Canada.

So many moths flitting about the welfare light bulb
