French villagers construct 6ft concrete WALL around hotel to stop it being turned into a migrant centre

Residents of a French town have built a concrete wall around an abandoned hotel to stop it being turned into a migrant shelter.

Worried locals in the town of Séméac, in the Hautes-Pyrénées, constructed the 6ft high, 65ft long barricade on Monday morning.

Laurent Teixeira runs local group Collectif Semeac, which built the wall, and says the town is not against welcoming those in need.

The French leftist organ Libération headlines “Xénophobie”, “militants” and “anti-migrants”. Only the left is allowed to take direct action.
The hotel is one of 62 in a chain bought out by the French government for conversion to migrant shelters and reception centres. Residents and store owners said the local authorities had failed to discuss with them the plan to house up to 85 migrants in the building. Séméac has a population of 5,500.

  • Bless his heart

Preventing an armed enemy army encampment is always a good idea.

  • This goes without saying: none of this should be happening.
