Smoke From BC Now in Alberta and Saskatchewan

Wildfires burning in British Columbia are causing smoky conditions in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Alberta Health Services has issued air-quality advisories in its north and Calgary zones.

It says even healthy people may feel irritation in their eyes and throat, as well as possible shortness of breath.

The health agency is advising people to minimize outdoor physical activity and keep windows and doors closed.

Environment Canada has also issued special air-quality statements for much of southwestern Saskatchewan.

It says children, seniors, and people with cardiovascular or lung diseases are especially at risk.

More than a dozen of the more than 160 wildfires in central and southern B.C. are threatening communities.

But will they receive a carbon credit for absorbing BC’s smoke?

    • shasta

Alberta and Saskatchewan should sue BC and the natives for the cost of the pollution to its citizens. Further they should have to contribute to a fund for any future damage – just like the pipeline companies.

Exactly. Didn’t jump on the fires ASAP, so now my tomato crop is experiencing less than 100% solar radiation & reduced productivity. I grow a lot of tomatoes.

Was out to video the last night of Stampede, specifically the fireworks. Air stunk, smoke obscured the sun & my truck was covered in ash fallout. I want compensation. Several dozen pounds of BC bud will do. If they’re anti smoking, then brownies will suffice as replacement.

These fires nullified all the CO2-reduction efforts made by the stupid government of Canada in the last year. Bwahahahaha!

      Good point!

In the last 5 years actually.

Is there any data for this?

        • Exile1981

Someone at work dud the math based on the estimates of co2 savings from gov’t website. not sure how accurate his numbers are but given his job they should be very accurate.

Could smell it all day yesterday. Wish it was hickory.

I was at a clients in Calgary today for a meeting, when I was leaving their office building they were handing everyone a filter mask as they went out the door.

When’s Justin going to declare a carbon tax on all this?

    • Watchman

Gaia will be sent a tax invoice as soon as they discover her mailing address. Bailiffs might be sent out with mining companies anyway to seize Gaian hidden assets like diamonds, gold, potash, and uranium. Obvious Gaian assets like forests might also be siezed both to pay the tax bill as well as because of Gaia failing to protest such a resource from being the cause of the carbon emissions in the first place.

    It’s good to be up-wind.
