These AI bots are so believable, they get more dates than you

“You sound cute, got a picture?”

“Nicole, your [sic] beautiful, are you single?”

“I love you, Jen.”

Those may sound like messages from a dating app, but they’re actually real emails people have sent to customer service representatives at places like car dealerships, insurance companies and education firms.

The problem: Those customer service reps aren’t human. They’re algorithm-powered software programs created by Conversica, a company that specializes in conversational artificial intelligence.

“conversational artificial intelligence.” are you talking about shiny pony?

    • Tooth&Claw

Trudeau isn’t intelligent and barely intelligible.

      • Bernie

        But he is artificial……..”Fake”

  • Dana Garcia

    How perv-fect!

I think that was a Big Bang episode, where Raj falls in love with Siri.

Some of the really advanced A.I.s are mind-blowingly human-like, very fast and can alter their answers based on your questions and tone of your voice.
The really good ones are utterly indistinguishable from a human.

That sounds like something an A.I. would say who’s trying to take over the world, DBN. If that’s your real name!!!

      • Drunk_by_Noon

Well, actually… some days I wish that I was a ‘bot.

mix one of those AI conversation units with a sex bot and 50% of young men will walk away from dating.

      can they make a sandwich?

      • Drunk_by_Noon

Yeah, with little effort, they actually could.
Furthermore they would remember precisely how you liked it and then give you suggestions on new sandwiches that you have never even had before.
They could build sandwich algorithms to predict how soon you would need your next one.

I can’t remember who but many years ago Tim Blair pointed out an Aussie female journalist who had a “conversation” with an obvious spambot in the comments at her blog.

  • Justin St.Denis

This is perhaps true, but these exchanges (between bots and humans) are pre-contextualized, so to speak. I doubt that an intelligent and educated person could be deceived for long if the limitations of “context” were removed/nullified.

Upload that AI into a sexbot. I don’t see the problem here.

Well, besides putting further downward pressure on the West’s birthrate. But I believe that Merkel found the solution to that! /sarc

The problem is not with the computer programs but with the desperate plastic people who are responding to the programs.
