Does Europe—Subconsciously—Expect America to Save It Again?

On the cruise I’ve been taking to six Baltic states, it suddenly struck me that Europe — though perhaps only subconsciously — expects America to save it once again in the end.

That would explain, in part, the fecklessness with which many of the countries — Sweden as a notable example, but almost all with the exception of the Eastern European states — treat the Islamic terror threat across their continent, this even after numerous attacks on their soil.

This is a threat that has already metastasized into a full invasion, a stealth jihad…

America’s taking care of Europe’s defense needs has infantilized the continent, for sure.

But it’s not a blank check, and the latest self-inflicted wound of mass muslim invasion is not sympathy-inducing.

    • I see Russia coming to the rescue though they may not have wished for that.

… and Russia won’t pay for a new Marshall Plan

      • Clausewitz

And when Russia hands them the Bill for their rescue it will be immense.

For Russia to come to the rescue, it will have to move through the Balkans or Scandinavia because the Poles, Czechs and Hungarians will not allow passage.

I disagree, since Russia has enough on her plate protecting her own borders and dealing with the Muslims within her borders. As someone wisher recently stated the Russians are not our enemy and never were. The enemy was communism during the Soviet Union, and I maintain communism remains our enemy, or at least a very serious one. However it is not being brought to us by the Russians; it is an internal cancer eating away at the country and an ally with Islam in seeking the downfall of the West.

The euro elites probably intend to see off a lot of the no longer needed “local indigenous populations” by “simple attrition”. As to the imported “attrition specialists” once they have completed their assignments? By that time “soldier robots” and “police robots” will be in mass production and price wars beween US and Chinese makers to supply desired product in massive quantities will be fierce.
Next stop Utopia – populated only by all the brilliant caring folks – just like heaven.
    (Sigh).

  • In a way, I hope Europeans are asking to be saved. In that event, one can say:

    “Nope.”

  • Manual Paleologos

We won’t. It is no longer worth saving. Maybe it never was.

    Never Again.

  • Hard Little Machine

Maybe. But I think they really no longer care. It’s about pretending. The US can pretend it has partners. The EU can pretend it punches about its weight on the world’s stage and Russia can pretend it’s a threat to its biggest customers. NATO is a farce.

Do they think we’re going to save them from their own domestic internal electoral politics? That’s silly. They don’t want our help and would fight us as colonialists if we offered it. Europe staked out its own course here. They WANT to implode. They WANT to become whatever it is they’re becoming.
