Austria to send troops, armoured vehicles to border with Italy to block migrants

Austria has deployed armoured vehicles close to its border with Italy and will send up to 750 soldiers to guard the frontier against migrants, the government said on Tuesday.

The move reflects deep concern in Vienna and elsewhere in Europe over the huge number of asylum seekers who continue to cross the Mediterranean from the coast of Libya – so far this year more than 85,000 have been rescued and brought to Italy.

Austria plans to increase border controls at the Brenner Pass, a key trade and transport route through the Alps that connects the two countries.

Stop the freebies. No “able-bodied European resident” should receive free money from any state, and that especially includes these economic migrants and alleged refugees. Redirect funds to law enforcement and national security (borders). Empower actual Europeans with legal arms and firepower. Let simmer until peace reasserts itself.

The biggest surprise in this is not that Austria is finally joining the Czechs and Hungarians in stopping this nonsense. It’s that Austria has a military with actual troops and vehicles.

I doubt they have a large enough military, or the willingness to use it effectively, to solve the problem. Much like Canada really.

There has been a reflux of migrants from Austria to to Italy, When refused asylum in Austria, they head for Italy.

The mayor of Udine, Furio Honsell, said many migrants seem to be coming here as a last resort.” People come here because they think that in Italy there is an option,” he said.
“You can either get asylum or what it is called temporary protection or humanitarian protection, and it allows them probably to go back to other countries where they can get a job.
“The situation is chaotic. These people are orbiting Europe trying to build a life for themselves.”
Mr Honsell says that according to Italian law, just about anybody who is on Italian land can apply for asylum and can appeal twice if their case is turned down.
“This sets up a process where people stay here,” he said. “There is basically no deportation in Italy.”

  • No point (SEE: barn, horse, out of).

Unless the Austrians (and Italians) are willing to actually use the machine-guns and/or cannons attached to those “armoured vehicles”….then it’s nothing but show. Stupid Europeans.

It’s racist to stop all these young Muslim mothers and young Muslim children!

    • JoKeR

They may not look like children, but they sure do look like mother******s!

  • favill

See! This is what happens when the North American/European SJWs go out and feed, and immunize the children in the backward, Muslim countries. They breed and come here. Stupid SJWs.
