Protesters plan to ‘kettle’ leaders at G20 summit in Hamburg

Police have expressed particular concern about Thursday afternoon’s “Welcome to Hell” march, expected to draw up to 8,000 anarchists and leftwing radicals.

Hamburg is transforming itself into an Orwellian dystopia for the G20 Summit

We are the Democracy in Europe Movement 2025 (DiEM25), a pan-European alliance of European citizens for the democratisation of Europe. What we are witnessing in Hamburg worries us deeply.

In less than three weeks from now, the world’s attention will be drawn to your city, as you host the planet’s most powerful heads of state for the G20 summit. Let us be clear: the G20 has no democratic mandate: it embodies the politics of austerity, social inequality, war and ecological destruction. The protests and draconian security measures that follow G20 summits around the world are testament to this group’s odiously illiberal and autocratic nature.

Let us be clear: the G20 has no democratic mandate: it embodies the politics of austerity, social inequality, war and ecological destruction.

Translation: The fact that a government is fairly elected has no bearing on whether it is democratic. First and foremost, it must have policies that we agree with.

I call that “redefining the dictionary.”

    Simple solution……………………….. Live ammunition.

If this was radical right wing groups starting these riots there’d be no problem rounding them up and putting them in cages but, since it’s the tolerant left combined with what passes for an anarchist these days they’ll get a pass and the police will be handcuffed in how much force they can use dealing with the whiny little shits.

Hamburg is already an Orwellian dystopia where the immigrants outnumber the native Germans. These summits seem more geared to garnering publicity and strong arming the weak and gullible attendants than actually accomplishing anything. IMO, the less Canada has to do with these conniving assholes the better off we will be.

Wasn’t it Chretien who decided – in his ignorance – that Kananaskis Country was the perfect place to hold one of these bunfights? There was one road for access, so the surrounding park area was closed off, much to the annoyance of Albertans as this occurred over the Victoria Day holiday and there was no access to any of the campsites.

    Mmm. Hamburg.

I would imagine that if Hamburgers wanted hamburgers, they would go to McDonald’s.

Why exactly are they having these summits there? why not have them in Diego Garcia, or Gitmo, or whatnot?

If they were committed to austerity they could all group Skype.
