Judge declares mistrial in Bill Cosby sexual assault case

NORRISTOWN, Pa. — A mistrial has been declared Saturday in Bill Cosby‘s sex assault trial after jurors failed to reach a verdict following five days of deliberations.

The jury of seven men and five women deadlocked after about 52 hours of deliberations that began June 12. It first announced they were deadlocked Thursday.

“This jury is hopelessly deadlocked,” Judge Steven O’Neill said after questioning each juror in turn about the impasse, adding, “This is not a victory for anyone.”

  • A very very long and boring press conference on the Cosby case being given by the D.A. By the way did I mention that it’s very very long, and that it’s boring?

    • Only twice;)

I’ve heard that is was very long and boring.

If a black juror hangs the jury because a black man is on trial and they refuse to convict, shouldn’t we call it “dreadlocked”?

    • Ha!

I am not crazy about Bill Cosby for the same reason I never did like Alan Alda — I just do not find angry humour funny. Aside from that, I think the war on men is going way too far; Angry women, perhaps expressing a twisted version of “buyer’s remorse” are now starting to see a bit of blowback. Perhaps it started with Ghomeshi. I don’t think they’ll be rioting in the streets over Cosby and (dare I say it?) I can’t wait to see what will happen to the 3 creepy Toronto cops I mean, can you really blame 3 drunken, over-hydrated, hyper-testoneronized centurions for misinterpreting some very mixed signals? Ladies, say what you want and mean what you say. There are no refunds in the real world.

Shouldn’t the defence or prosecution have gotten a brown envelope into the sequestered jury to have avoided a hung jury?

If I had a black father, he would’ve looked like Bill Cosby.

I don’t have a strong opinion one way or the other, but I am always suspicious when people start to make allegations about events from two decades ago.
