Linda Sarsour’s brother works at kosher Brooklyn restaurant

A Jewish group is demanding that a kosher restaurant fire the brother of Palestinian-American activist Linda Sarsour.

Mohammed Sarsour, known as Moe, is a manager at Izzy’s Brooklyn Smokehouse restaurant, The New York Jewish Week reported. His sister has clashed with pro-Israel groups over her support of the movement to boycott Israel and a one-state solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict that replaces Israel.

I’m on the fence. Maybe unwarranted collateral damage is something we should do.

I remember, say back in 1970, my first job upon immigrating to Canada, was that at the dirty end of the main dishwasher of Nate’s steakhouse in Ottawa (I was getting landed immigration status internally). The fellow on the clean end (who took the clean dishes out of the washer and stacked them) was named Ali, a Muslim from Syria. He spoke zero English or French, and could only speak to me with grunts and hand signals.

At the time I wondered about the irony of a Syrian working for Jews, immigrants from Israel. I also wondered how anybody could get into Canada with no job skills, education, and not knowing either English of French.
