Quebec constitutional talks risk opening Pandora’s box

Philippe Couillard no doubt has his reasons for reopening the long-dormant constitutional debate in this country right now. But the Quebec premier doesn’t seem to have bothered taking into account how his plans will go over in the rest of Canada.

Quebec (in fact from Ontario to the east coast) go buy more rubber ducks and float yourselves down the St. Lawrence, far out into the Atlantic. Your brand of so-called federalism doesn’t work for Western Canada anymore. Times have truly changed and it doesn’t help when you vote in disastrous leaders like your beloved Trudope.

    • Jabberwokk

I think I’m ready for it this time around. In a round about way it may be the only way to save Canada.

      • Linda1000

Something has got to give. If Trudeau gets voted in for a second term, it’s goodbye Canada anyway so it won’t matter what Quebec does or any other province.

    Fuck off already!

I live a stone’s throw from the Canadian (Quebec Province) border, USA side, and I can vouch for the fact that Quebeccers are nothing but a pain in the ass. They are constantly coming over into Vermont in their crappy vehicles and broken down 18 wheeler trucks and speeding and breaking the law. They are absolute aholes in the restaurants and stores and are the cause of most parking lot disturbances and fights. They can’t read road signs and are always lost. They complain about everything and stink so bad you can smell them a mile away.
Canada has no right to complain about the US when they are always sponging off us, like Qubeccers do, and have their act so screwed up they vote in total pantywastes like Trudeau and Wynn. Couillard is just another example of Canadian foolishness.

Thanks for that information and for the last 50+ years Quebec has been constantly whining to the rest of Canada and our federal gov’ts. always give in to them. I haven’t visited Quebec since the early 1980s (Montreal only) so don’t really know what the province is like now.

I couldn’t care less if Quebec stays or goes. The whole Canadian federation could break up for all it matters any more.

    • WalterBannon

      I hope it does

  • WalterBannon

The break up of Canada would be a good thing.

    • Linda1000

Would you share your viewpoint or expand on your comment?

The first Europeans arrive in Canada around 1600. Canada didn’t happen until 1867. There has been civilization here for a longer time without the existence of Canada than with it. Canada is nothing more that the political entity that the people of northern North America have used to govern themselves. We have existed with it, we have existed without it, and probably done equally well in both scenarios.

Canada is not carved in stone. When it was formed it was Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. The rest existed, but they weren’t part of Canada. Newfoundland didn’t become part until 1949, and the territory of Nunavut was only created in 1999. (and in true Canadian form over function, the territorial budget is bigger that their GDP!!).

My point here is that Canada is not carved in stone, and if it has outlived it’s usefulness it can split up.

Agree but nobody seems to be commenting on this blog’s posts. It’s not that helpful to just make a very general ten word statement so I’m just asking for opinions. My own view might be totally skewed so it’s good to know what others think.

    F**K CANUCKISTAN!!! BRING ON THE DE-CONFEDERATION!!! 😉

  • Shebel

I don’t want to see Canada split up. That is a fact.
This animosity between the French and English is fueled by useless Politicians and a ‘MORE than bought and paid for’ Media.
This French and English bullshit should have died with Protestant vs Catholic stuff.

I think the French and the English— will both AGREE that we have a LOT more THREATS to our Culture and Beliefs—

    Than EACH OTHER.

    Time to MAN UP !
and not get lead by the nose.

      Your population is growing.
      What are you ?
      Some type of traitorous Pussy?

      • Linda1000

Nah, I’m just the usual redneck from Alberta but what’s in it for Alberta or Sask. to stay in Canada any longer. There has been a big exodus in population from AB in the last couple of years and even with newer immigrants there has been a slight deficit in population growth. There were many unemployed engineers, technologists, geologists, geophysicists at the AB legislature the other day begging to be retrained for other jobs. Investment in Alberta has walked away and things have been bad for the last few years. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/c90b6d5fe464e52190520a6482b60565ea521cfb151c12b4c38c9d7a07112ac4.jpg

          Are you a Lezzy?—because-
That would be a real shame.

          • Shebel

Ok . I get it – you are just a Normal female from the West.

          • Linda1000

Nope, absolutely not. The t-shirt is a joke, that’s all. Gotta have a sense of humour to get through all the madness these days.

          • Shebel

            That is good to know.

Beautiful ladies have always left me tongue tied.

            Sorry.

About 10 years ago I heard a well know Imam on the radio mention Quebec during a debate and he said that Muslims will get their own State one day in canada when they have the numbers to get the same power . The claim was that Muslims would enforce Arabic and use Sharia inside their State.

Quebec will have a bit of a problem if they want to Separate from Canada because my father has Dual-Citizenship by-treaty with the USA that goes back to the 1794 Jay-Treaty.
It is assume that for over 6000 years his people were about 70% of the current Vermont area and right into the lower border area of Quebec with Vermont . If Quebec wants their land back as a French Nation inside Canada…. the natives should demand their land back which is about 80% of the land .

Be careful about what you wish for.

    • Shebel

I don’t think that Quebec wants to tangle with the Natives —ANYMORE
Everything is just White Political BULLSHIT.
      As it should be.
      Bring it on Couillard !
