Beyond the Article 5 backlash: What really happened with Trump and NATO

While delivering a speech at the unveiling of the Article 5 and Berlin Wall memorial at the new NATO HQ, Trump was reported to be insulting allies with blunt messages on their lack of defence spending, as well as undermining the very foundation of the alliance by failing to explicitly mention the US commitment to Article 5.

The icing on the cake was when Trump brutally shoved his way to the front of the family photo.

However, a fair assessment can only be made by looking at both political and military developments in conjunction to the meeting.

Time for Europe to start paying for their own defense or bugger off. The little asswipe ruining Canada these days should be aligned with Trump and not stabbing the U.S. in the back every chance he gets. If Russia invades the Canadian Arctic tomorrow, who is going to protect Canada, if not the U.S. I don’t think Russia is really interested in being such a threat these days and this NATO business is just another cash grab from the U.S.

It’s a good thing that Alaska stands between the Yukon and Russia….or else the Yukon and the NWT would’ve been swallowed up by the USSR during the P. Trudeau years.

    Forget Russia. Forget Global Warming.

The REAL threat to Europe is Islam and the Muslim invasion.

And the outcome of it looks already decided to me.

We should get out of NATO and forget about Europe.

They have chosen their own doom and they do not intend to act to prevent it, let alone even acknowledge the threat.

    Screw them.

NATO is a relic of a different age, in retrospect it probably should have been dissolved or renegotiated shortly after the USSR collapsed. Being part of an invincible alliance allowed the Europeans to go on pretending they were still great powers instead of the defeated countries they really were at the end of WWII. With no need to defend themselves against outsiders and shorn of their foreign colonial possessions they immersed themselves in social experimentation, leading to where they are now, the assisted-suicide stage of their existence.
