Trump Is Overestimating Palestinians’ Desire For Peace

<em>Trump wants to restart the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, but the obstacles to peace that have bedeviled past U.S. presidents have not gone away.

President Trump’s direct flight from Saudi Arabia to Tel Aviv on Monday is thought to be the first of its kind. The two countries have no diplomatic relations, and the flight was meant as a kind of symbolic gesture, bridging the gap between Israel and the Arab world on the U.S. president’s first overseas trip.

But Trump appears to be interested in more than mere symbolism. Upon landing in Israel, he waded into the thicket of Israeli-Palestinian relations, declaring: “We have before us a rare opportunity to bring security and stability and peace to this region and to its people.”

The President is being ‘advised’ by members of the Department of State, who specialise in ‘over-estimating’ the Arab desire for peace.

Yes, he still needs to clean up more of Hillary’s swamp.

Trump is an egotist, who has made deals all his life and probably believes there can be a deal negotiated that both sides can live with, even if each side doesn’t like what they got. The problem is that he’s never had to deal with someone whose un-negotiable core position is the genocide of the other side.

I think he will eventually learn, despite the misleading information he is being fed by his biased orientalist State Department.

Also some members of his family according to many sources.

I don’t think they’re involved with this, as they’re Orthodox. The State Department was against Israel in 1948, including George Marshall at the top. it was Truman’s involvement which push Israel into being. Likewise, it was Nixon who sent arms to Jerusalem in 1973, over the objections of Foggy Bottom.

Never happen. At the first sign of some fake peace deal the Fakestinians will go ape-shit crazy just like numerous times before. No giving up land from Israel, no release of terrorist prisoners and no money from Israel or the U.S.

Nothing wrong with giving them a real chance then when they inevitably turn it down he can tell them to gf themselves.

But will this time be any different than all the other times? I am referring to the idea that they would be sent packing when they show their real colours.

      • Sid Falco

I doubt it but my point is that at least this time they are being given a fair shake at it in public. When they turn it down they’ll just show themselves up (again).

We have seen this so many times before. Diplomats are insane people who keep doing the same things over and over while expecting different results every time.

Somewhat OTT, but where is Arafat’s widow? She was, I understand, Christian. I also rather think – from sources back in the day – that Arafat believed in “paying yourself first” as one ad goes, ad did a lot of that.

There are no “palestinians”. There are just a bunch of islamic arabs from Jordan, Egypt and Syria infesting a coastal region of Israel called Gaza. They need to be driven out, into the sea if at all possible, so as not to add to the islamic terrorist hoard elsewhere.
