Alberta’s PCs and Wild Rose Party Merge

O Dio …

Sources have told The Canadian Press that Alberta’s two conservative parties have struck a tentative deal to merge.

The two party leaders — Brian Jean of the Wildrose and Jason Kenney of the Progressive Conservatives — are expected to speak to the deal at a news conference later today.

Any deal would still have to be approved by a majority of members in both parties.

The Wildrose has previously said it will need 75 per cent or more of its members to OK the deal while the Progressive Conservatives say they will require a simple majority of 50 per cent plus one.

A group of representatives from both parties has been meeting for the last two months to hammer out a deal.

When Conservatives drop the illusion of being “progressive” (which is NOT an adjective), the nightmare of Notley and her wrecking crew will fade into just a bad memory never to be repeated. That said, there is no hope yet in sight for Ontario. Just more years of wandering and suffering in the wilderness.

They’d better purge all the red tories, or this is a non starter.

  • Exile1981

I’m against it. This is nothing but another attempt by the red torries to take out conservatives.

I’m split. I like Jason and Brian.Brian had already and very humbly said he would step aside if that meant that guaranteed the NDP’s removal. Brian’s conduct has earned my respect so i hope he is a leader somewhere.

I guess it will be up to us to hold a gun to the head of our representatives to keep the course straight but then that’s as it should be. We the people have excused ourselves from the politics of our country for to long. We need to step up before we earn a leader to faithfully represent us.

Guys, it must happen, solely to run nutly out on a rail.

First they infilrate the “grass roots”
then they buyout the “leaders” or their lieutenants and remove the original leader

    Then they merge
and remove everything the original party stood for

It happened with reform and it’s happened to “wild rose”
Harper was a liberal plant, he took out reform
and got to be a PC PC PM

    Kenndy sold out long ago
and if kills wild rose he’ll get to be a alberta PC PC Premiere

Fool me once, shame on you
Fool me twice, shame on me

BTW “red tories” are liberals, and POS as well

Harper was a miracle in a country full of fools.

I cannot see Harper having been a liberal plant, although I concur that in most areas he would not qualify as a conservative. Still compared to the alternative then and now, he was better by far. The sad truth is that Canada lacks conservative politicians; what passes for conservative is just not as far left of centre as the rest.
