Trump fires Comey as FBI director

President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey Tuesday, the White House said, moving to oust the man leaving an investigation into his campaign operatives’ ties to Russia.

“The president has accepted the recommendation of the Attorney General and the deputy Attorney General regarding the dismissal of the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” White House press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters.

Good on the President. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

And an object lesson to the neocon NeverTrumpers who claim Trump wasn’t doing anything to drain the swamp; and to the alt-right who were worried about Trump being subsumed by the swamp.

The NeverTrumpers better watch their backs, too.

    • Short and sweet!

Can Come find a liberal judge in the 9th Circuit region to put a restraining order on the dismissal claiming that Trump’s animosity to the Russian influence investigation before the election makes Comey’s dismissal illegal?

Worked for the temporary halt to visa issuance for six countries – can the same thing happen again?

I hope he doesn’t receive a severance package.

      • Reports say due to the nature of his termination, Comey was perp walked out the door and told his personal belongings would be mailed to him.

    What’s that noise?
Is Hitlery’s jet being warmed up again?

The hypocrites at CNN are going ballistic. After months of rants about Comey from CNN and leftists, they are outraged that Trump fired him. CNN hosts are even comparing Trump to Nixon, and Trump is a total liar.

    • Clausewitz

CNN? Who cares what they have to say? They’re a bad joke.

  • Drunk_by_Noon

    Trump is a funny guy.
One minute we are cursing him and the next we praise him.
A glorious time, if not a confusing time, to be an American.

It’s akin to Comey detailing how Hillary broke the law, at the very least by negligence, and then finally saying she would not be prosecuted because she didn’t mean to which actually isn’t part of the law.

If Comey’s arguments about ‘intent’ being required for a conviction were adopted, the charge of manslaughter would disappear overnight, because this charge assumes that someone died but the killer didn’t intend for that person to die. Under Comey’s interpretation the accused would have to be let go, or charged with intentional murder.

The actual law does not require intent, just negligence at the least for failing to act to keep secrets secret. This is why training is done to ensure that cleared people can’t say, “I didn’t know I was supposed to keep it secret” and they have to sign to say they were told.

    • Jaedo Drax

He was applying the standard for a “malice” prosecution against the standard for “negligence”. One requires intent, the other doesn’t.

    • V10_Rob

He was ordered to find a fig leaf to excuse Clinton’s actions. Not like he had much to work with.

He didn’t want to have an accident and die.

Another reminder of why I voted for Trump.

I would propose former U.S. Attorney Joe diGenova as Comey’s successor. DiGenova is an aggressive investigator who thinks Hillary is guilty as hell.

According to the Rebel’s Jack Posobiec the Clintion investigation may be re-opened.

Two ‘Fifth’s are likely to feature in Comey’s near future:
    – a fifth of whiskey now he’s been fired, and,
    – an invocation of his Fifth Amendment rights when questioned about his actions over the Clinton investigations

And for dramatic effect, the famous 4 notes opening Beethoven’s 5th.

      • Watchman

Beethoven’s Symphony №5: the first four notes ‘dit-dit-dit-dah’ whose meaning in Morse code is the letter ‘V’ or 5 in Roman Numerals. The four notes broadcast to Occupied Europe in the Second World War by the BBC as the symbol of V for Victory by the Allied forces including the communist USSR. It’s all linked!

I can guess Trump wanted to avoid claims that firing of Comey before now was part of an attempted political persecution of Trump’s political rival, and Trump hoped that Comey would investigate and prosecute according to the letter of the law. When Comey claimed that Hillary and Abedin could both not be prosecuted because they didn’t intend to break the law Trump really had to fire Comey since intent is not part of the allowable excuses to break the law. If something was secret and under your control, you are guilty if that information is released: your legal duty is to ensure that it remains secret.

  • mauser 98

how does Hillary & Co. attack Trump for firing the one who she claims cost her the election?

  • El Martyachi

I’ve seen it all now. The attorney general is a ‘criminal suspect’.

Which is why not America should be proud of its legal dictum: “Innocent Until Proven Guilty”, and should vigorously resist any attempts to change this to “Guilty until proven innocent” that is steadily creeping across the land.

Considering her many years with al Ceebeera, I wouldn’t doubt she’d have done something batshit like that.

  • mauser 98

if Hill won election she would have canned Comey Jan. 21

  • Drain the swamp! Many more in Deep State need to be ejected.

  • Michael Clement

He’s fortunate Hillary isn’t president. He’d not only be fired right now, he’d be dead too.
