Head of ISIS in Afghanistan is killed in a raid by US and Afghan special forces, country’s president says

The head of ISIS in Afghanistan has been killed in a raid carried out by Afghan and US special forces, the country’s president has said.

Abdul Hasib was killed in a raid on his compound in Nangarhar, in the country’s east, last Thursday by a team of 50 US special forces and 40 Afghan commandos.

President Ashraf Ghani announced the death on Sunday, just over a week after a failed raid on the same compound claimed the lives of two Army Rangers.
