The Pope Heads to Egypt to Defend Islam

Reuters reported Tuesday that “Pope Francis hopes to mend ties with Muslims on his trip to Egypt on Friday but faces criticism from church conservatives for meeting Islamic religious leaders after a spate of deadly attacks against Christians.”

He has to mend ties? After Palm Sunday jihad massacres at two churches in Egypt, shouldn’t it be Egyptian Muslims who are reaching out to him to mend ties?

“A main reason for the trip,” Reuters explains, “is to try to strengthen relations with the 1,000-year-old Azhar center that were cut by the Muslim side in 2011 over what it said were repeated insults of Islam by Francis’s predecessor, Pope Benedict.”

Well silly me, as I was always told that the pope is the head of the Roman Catholic Church. Just shows out out-of-date I am.

I’ve also got some bad news about the toilet habits of bears in the woods, but I’ll let you recover from your shocking Pope update first.

He care much more for Muslims than for non-RC Christians. And he may even care more for Muslims than RC’s as well.

I think he sees an affinity with anyone who holds any devout religious belief over empathy with any atheist. Since this seems to be the most socialist Pope ever, there seems to be a strange alliance with socialism and islamism, just as there was in Iran in 1979. Both helped depose the Shaw as a common enemy, and then the islamists disposed of the socialists soon afterwards. It is likely the same will happen in Europe and other countries.

This current iteration should make people of all faiths long for the sanity of Pope Urban II and his policies towards Islam.

Send millions of ‘refugees’ from North Africa and the Mideast to his native Argentina. I don’t see the problem with this. Argentina is a big country with the same population as Spain. No reason to think 100% of them can’t be accommodated.
