Coulter likely to cancel Berkeley appearance: ‘It’s a sad day for free speech’

Conservative firebrand Ann Coulter says she will likely cancel her Thursday appearance at the University of California, Berkeley, over persistent security concerns.

Coulter told The New York Times on Wednesday that she felt like she was left without adequate support of law enforcement officials who said that her safety cannot be guaranteed at the event, which was relocated after protests.

“It’s a sad day for free speech,” she told The Times.

The disinfecting power of sunlight should be brought upon the mayor of Berkeley and his BAMN friends.

I read about his ‘extra-curricular activities’ earlier today… Not a guy you’d want in a position of authority.

    • He is a piece of work.

His facebook friends Shanta Driver and Yvette Felarca are even scarier. Felarca is a middle school teacher ffs. Sargon of Akkad has a lengthy Youtube video about them.

Good decision. Coulter would get no protection at all from the police, either campus or city.

I wonder how long such closed-minded policies of academia make them anachronistic.(as in starved-to-death dinosaurs).

    • That will come

Not soon enough. Generous alumni should also take note.

Trump should revoke the tax deduction for donations and charatible gift status for all universities.

And run audits on all of them. A recent one of Janet Napolitano’s University of California uncovered some rather curious accounting practices.

Trump should condemn antifa, should bring an investigation into the mayor of Berkeley, should impose sanctions, if not attack the Saudis, should stop giving money to Hamas, should pull out of the UN, should move the US Embassy to Jerusalem, etc.

Should but I wager won’t, based on his performance to date. Yes, I am really getting disappointed, I admit. Still never so disappointed that I would have preferred Hilderbeast.

Academia is an immense swamp in need of drainage.

  • Hard Little Machine

Well here’s an opportunity for people to exercise their own 100% boycott of Berkeley. Don’t invite their staff to anything. Don’t accept their invites to Berkeley or even respond to them. Direct funding and research elsewhere. Stop enrolling, Stop attending. Stop sharing academic work with them. Just stop. It’s a public university funded in part by tax dollars. Let it be their problem, the people of California. Let them give free everything to all the correct victim groups. Let them criminalize the education of straight white males if they like. Who cares? There are other options.

    Freedom dies because Leftist violence.

    • Every time one withdraws, it shows bullies that they can thrive.

    • Alain

No, it dies because those who truly understand its importance are unwilling to fight to the end. I am not blaming Coulter in this case, since she cannot do this alone. Where the hell are all the people who value their freedom in these situations?

Anne Coulter could appeal to the Mayor of Berkeley for his support in keeping Antifa’s ‘Black Bloc’ in check by directing his police to aggressively keep order.

Oh, wait. “Berkeley Mayor is Member of Antifa Facebook Group That Organised Riots” http://www.breitbart.com/tech/2017/04/21/berkeley-mayor-is-member-of-antifa-facebook-group-that-organized-riots/

  • As I’ve said:

    – put up one’s talk on Youtube
    – apply water-hoses (ie – do your g-d- job, police)
    – pretend to talk about censorship but switch mid-stream to DS9
