Don’t mention the war!

A respected British historian has been banned from giving military lectures on board a cruise ship after dozens of German passengers complained.

Jeff Chandler, 83, was booked to give talks during a round-the-world trip run by Cruise & Maritime Voyages, with his first being on the Dunkirk evacuation.

But dozens of passengers took offence to the Swindon-based speaker’s opening lecture and complained, before he gave his second talk on Crimea.

I prefer the Psychiatrist episode, but this one is pretty damn good, too.

I have seen this crap in Canada from a few immigrants from Germany. A previous neighbour who had lived in Germany during the war and later immigrated to Canada wrote to the local newspaper complaining about the celebration of Veterans’ Day. For him it was all about moral equivalency in that we were just as bad for bombing Germany and had no cause to be proud. I had encountered this attitude before with Germans, which smacks of ignorant arrogance in my opinion. I am not saying all are like that, but it does seem to be more of a German trait.

    • It was a silly thing to complain about.

And they’ll ever forgive the Jews for what happened during the war.

Yes, I teach a modern German history course in one of our better establishments, and even there you get idiots complaining about lectures of the Nazi Regime, and the usual suspects complaining about the Holocaust. Santyana was a Prophet.
