New York Times Health Editor: Don’t Use The Term Genital Mutilation Because It’s Culturally Insensitive

According to New York Times Health Editor Celia Dugger, journalists shouldn’t be using the term “female genital mutilation” to describe female genital mutilation. Her reasoning? It’s culturally insensitive, so watered down terms should be used instead.

  • Euphemisms are leftists’ best ideological friends. It keeps even them from logical affirmation.

Not only will I continue calling it female genital mutilation, because that’s exactly what it is, but I also staunchly refuse to abide by your cultural relativity narrative. Some cultures are better than others. Period. And one that condones FGM deserves no respect or “sensitivity”.

What the New York Times is doing makes perfect sense.

The NYT does not want to be culturally insensitive to this particular group of people because they may set fires and kill people if you disagree with them, something that the NYT doesn’t have to fear from Jewish, Christian, Hindu or Buddhists.

The NYT is dishonest in portraying themselves as brave defenders of the people, when they are the worst of cowards only too eager to sell out the people and the country they are in.

      • David Murrell

It’s not so much that we should be upset with the NYT. These gutter quislings long ago dropped any pretense of human decency. What bothers me is some still call this extremist newspaper “the paper of record”. The paper is no such thing. It is a public disgrace.

I don’t know how I feel about this. If they want to do this to their own why should I care? It’s no skin off my back. DO I care if they do it in Pakistan? No I don’t. I don’t want them here, but I have no say in that, but if they want to mutilate there children it’s no more skin off my back just because they live in Islamissiuga or Bramtodesh than it is if they do it in Pakistan.

As much as I cringe for the young girls, I see your point. Where I get off is welcoming thousands of muslims into Canada and staying quiet about this practice. Here. In Canada. The “slippery slope” is sometimes considered a weak argument but if we start off looking the other way for one of their most barbaric customs, we don’t have much further to slide down. What will be the next quaint cultural custom we’ll have to be sensitive to.

        • canminuteman

We’ll allow every quaint cultural practice because I think “our betters” are well aware that they will start killing us if we try to stop them.

      • The Islamic death cult already affects you. You have to take your shoes off at the airport at a minimum. If you are lucky you might not become a victim of some brainwashed lone wolf.

Stopping FGM will help take apart the Islamic death cult. We all (the world) will be better off without Islam.

  • Hard Little Machine

The Times more than once tried to jump on the Ban the Brit Millah movement. So really this is only about kissing Muslim butt. Nothing more.

It would seem that Celia Dugger believes that FGM must be tolerated and even exonerated because the women affected are not white women and they come from an innocent (non-Western Civilization) culture that can do no wrong because their cultural values are equivalent to ours.

    • Frances

If she thinks the cultural values are equivalent, perhaps she needs to experience first-hand the joys of this particular cultural value.

  • Spatchcocked

Exactly……what gutless swine these media are…..that’s right Celia Duggar….that which we call a rose would smell as sweet by any other name….

  • Alain

Following that “logic”, then one must not use terms such as rape, honour killing, beheading, and a few more since that would also be cultural insensitive.

    • dance…dancetotheradio

      Trudeau follows that logic.

    • bargogx1

Supporters of M-103 would likely agree with that logic.

  • DavidinNorthBurnaby

Muzzies are a bunch of hopeless savages. Is that insensitive? I don’t care.

    • Clink9

Cue the guys that miss their foreskn in 3,2,1, …..

  • Ron MacDonald

    Comic relief… watch the video.

    • DavidinNorthBurnaby

      Muzzies sure are dumb.

    • Exile1981

That’s funny. Obviously the result of 14 centuries of inbreeding.

  • Dana Garcia

The act is even more insensitive than the term.

  • Clausewitz

Riiiiiggghht. Using the term Genital mutilation is culturally insensitive, but carving up your daughters nether regions isn’t. More proof that leftist dogma is a mental disorder.

  • terrence22

Just when I thought the New York Slimes could not get any stupider, it prints this MASSIVELY STUPID RUBBISH.

Health Editor Celia Dugger, should experience “genital cutting”, to show her understanding and appreciation of other cultures.

  • CodexCoder

No, insensitivity is allowing human mutilation for reasons which are incomprehensible except to Arab tribes and then being too cowardly to call it what it is – a crime according to our own laws.

  • pdxnag

Is this like saying non-human animals do not feel pain?

  • Exile1981

I think journalists who promote FGM should have to experience it done 1st hand on them.

  • LairdKintyre

So what do these animals call a suicide bombing? A Communion with Allah?

    • Clausewitz

      Friday.

The bozos in ISIS do – they will have a guaranteed, certain passage to heaven; after all, they are doing what the koran tells them to do – kill the infidels and apostates, go to heaven and get 72 virgins (some translations say 72 raisins; but, the “virgins” is the one ISIS prefer.

  • Alain

This is actually an Arab cultural thing but has expanded with the expansion of Islam elsewhere. It has everything to do with ensuring that the woman cannot experience any pleasure during intercourse, as pleasure is only for the man. It is supposed to prevent wayward women and ensure they don’t allow a different man to bed them, the same purpose as hiding the wives, women in body bags including the face. It says to me that Arab men are extremely insecure especially when it comes to sexuality. We have every reason to reject the practice within our borders just as we reject eating other people, or at least to date we do.

So the islamic State ISIS isn’t islamic or a State , the Muslim Jihadist terrorist isn’t a muslim or jihadist , so now FGM isn’t FGM .

    But…… a Trump voter is a racist, misogynist , homophobic , xenophobe, Nazi , KKK , white supremacy , white nationalist .

If Bruce Jenner has the SCOTUS Judges enforcing his Human Right to self-identify as a women just by saying it to be treated as women – pre-surgery while our SCOC and HRC’s are the same way – then a terrorist should have the same Human Rights protection to self-identify as a Muslim and part of the islamic State jihadists.

A muslm terrorist by any other name…….
