Those are the words Kevin Raspberry used to describe the hateful ordeal he lived through on Saturday night. Raspberry was beaten, kicked and smacked repeatedly with a bamboo stalk in a Logan Heights alley.
His attacker is still on the loose.
Raspberry says he was walking by the trolley stop off Imperial Avenue when a man walked up to him and began violently beating him for no reason.
“Put a big knot right here on my eye, and kicked me,” he said. “And I was knocked out, and I don’t remember anything else.”
Police said while it happened, the attacker used racial epithets to express his dislike of African-Americans. The suspect left the area but returned a short time later.
“How could this happen to me I wasn’t doing nothing to anybody?” Raspberry said.
The 56-year-old was hospitalized with several injuries. He got out of the hospital Monday night with two black eyes, a torn ear and an aching leg.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic man, 5 foot-5 inches to 5-foot, 8-inches tall, clean shaven, wearing a blue hat, blue t-shirt, blue shorts and low top shoes. He had two tattoos on both calves, possibly an “S” and “D.”
