Trump’s First Hundred Days

The rumor mills have been working overtime in Washington this weekend — and I guess we’ll find later today or tomorrow whether they’re right — but heading into the weekend, my assessment of the new president is positive.

Why is booting Assad a good thing? How many times must the US remove a Middle-East dictator only to have him replaced with something far worse, before they learn that this isn’t a smart policy?

Keeping in mind that the Democrats have slow-walked the confirmation process, to the extent that Jeff Sessions has yet to have one of his nominees for DoJ confirmed, I wouldn’t be too certain about what is Trump and what is hold-over administration up till this point.

I am with Walsh on this. Trump could never have succeeded in business by being an ideologue. Instead, he takes a pragmatic approach. As far as Assad goes, Trump’s agenda for Syria is to wipe out ISIS and set up safe zones for civilians. If he accomplishes these things, then Assad becomes irrelevant and Sunnis and Shiites can slaughter each other down to the last goat.
