Conservative hopeful Leitch vows to scrap plan to legalize pot

OTTAWA — Marijuana is a “dangerous drug,” Conservative leadership hopeful Kellie Leitch said Tuesday as she promised to undo the Liberal government’s efforts to legalize it, should she become her party’s leader and eventually prime minister.

    Tru-dope, living proof?

  • Maggat

Well now, there’s the proof of the pudding.

  • LairdKintyre

Kellie Leitsch is making it clear. She isn’t looking to win a popularity contest unlike Justin. This woman wants to be our Prime Minister not our Junior High School President. And I truly believe she is destined to be our next Prime Minister.

    • David Murrell

The corporate media already despise KL for opposing Islamic war crimes. Now this will really get them angry.

    • Maggat

      Fingers crossed!

    • dance…dancetotheradio

The dope thing is a non issue for a lot of reasons.
      It’s better left alone.
Two years since the election and fuck all has happened.
Give the dope smokers a reason to vote for you instead of against you.

  • mobuyus

She just doused any hope she had of winning. Reefer madness and Sgt. Stadenko based drug policy will not fly in the 21st century.

    • doowleb

      Really? Has Trump legalized?

      • mobuyus

Trump isn’t running in Canada. We’d still have Mr Harper as PM had he decriminilized pot. She may win the Conservative leadership but running on a Reefer Madness Sgt. Stadenko drug policy will guarantee the Conservatives never take office. If you do not want to smoke pot fine but do not impose your values on others, that’s islamic.

        • doowleb

Your assertion is that the last election and the next will hinge on the pot question? I think not. It’s a fringe issue important to some. I think decriminalization is in order, however I don’t think Leitch’s success or failure depends on legalizing pot.

          • mobuyus

My assertion is that had Mr. Harper decriminalized pot he would still be Prime Minister. Some fringe issue it is the only reason we are stuck with justin. Throwing the baby out with the bathwater is never good.

          • WalterBannon

You underestimate the number of people who either smoke pot, have smoked pot, or are tolerant of it.

Criminalizing it is socially today on par with alcohol prohibition, only sells to a small fringe group. So you have your fringes backwards.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

People don’t realize or refuse to realize that when my kids can sit in the garage, place an order on their phones and get it delivered within minutes at a price that is lower than any government run agency can provide it the whole legalization thing is dead in the water.

          • Clink9

Our favorited babysitter 20 yeas ago got busted for doing the same thing.
Pissed away her hopes of being a cop.

I worked with a ‘slammy who wanted to be a cop but couldn’t because of his record.
            Fucking dodged a bullet there.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

Last election was partly decided on that question.

        • Jabberwokk

I find decriminalizing it is the drug culture imposing it’s culture on me.

I don’t need it. Never have. Neither do you. You want it. And your going to get it to hell what anyone else thinks.

I don’t want to live in a world, province, city, town, home with drugs in it for a variety of reasons. You having things your way comes at the expense of mine. And yes your decisions effect me. The same as alcoholics and cigarette users. Their poor choices end up costing me more money, via taxes, to support the consequences of their decisions. They destroy families as assuredly as they create bad appetites and far to often their “recreational use” has them instead of the other way around. The end result is more corporatism, higher crime, increased health related issues, societal decomposition, and more.

If you need an addiction find a gym, learn a language, enroll in a club. If you need to relax catch a movie with some popcorn, take a bath, or read a book. Their are an unlimited amount of solutions to w/e problem you want me to believe drugs solve.

But to hell with what i think just gimme my damn weed right?

          • mobuyus

Throwing people in jail for smoking a plant that we’ve been smoking for thousands of years is insane. I’ve never known pot to destroy families and as for your “create bad appetites” that’s right out of Reefer Madness. Your solutions may work for you going to a gym frequented by homos having a bath and eating popcorn will not work for me, I am a Guitar player. I thought that trading thirty-five years of injection drug use for pot and beer was a good deal and my family and loved ones agree.

          • Jabberwokk

So to hell what I think just gimme my damn weed. got it.

I have my own anecdotal evidence for my experience as well. I work in Health services in dialysis, kidney, and psychology and i got very good reason when I see the effects these things have in the long term, the pain it puts their love one’s through, as well as having to deal with the ass end of humanity as they get certified by their doctors because their fealty to little plants have destroyed their ability to function. I’ve seen it in my own family with and without.

Justifying your enslavement by trading one set of masters for another does not convince. I did not realizing that playing a guitar somehow meant you were a serf to your desires. I also have an Instrument that I play and I can not afford to pollute it with this slow death. If you need help then get it but don’t pass this off as something unique to you that drugs were the only way out. You simply have not developed the ability to deal with your pain. Many don’t because the process is uncomfortable. But I’m telling you it’s worth it. And you will be mastered by nothing.

if you can’t get rid of it you don’t have it at all. It has you. and that is a problem.

          • mobuyus

An expanded mind never reverts to it’s former shape. I’ve been playing guitar and smoking weed for over 40yrs. I love playing my guitar comming down off of majic mushrooms. As a musician I would recommend you try that. When I used to shoot speed I’d play guitar for 48-72hrs only putting it down to screw my girlfriend, sometimes the guitar would end up involved with us. You do what you like. As a shade tree psychologist( I read American Clinical Psychology on speed) I have no problem with that however you seem to be hung up on desires you percieve others to have and that is unhealthy. Fire up a kipper and relax.

          • Jabberwokk

A deceived mind does not know it’s deceived.

I am a martial artist. My body is my instrument. My nature is my opponent. Mastery is my goal. I will be mastered by no one and nothing. All I need I already have.

            I only wish you freedom.

          • mobuyus

A tree does not grow from rock. I have a yellow belt in Judo, the last Judo tournament I was in( 1967) I was only stopped by a blue belt. Quite satisfied with what I had accomplished I saw no need to dedicate my life to this art. Through a rough and tumble life I have never lost a fight( very thankful for my Judo and my Father a combat veteran 1939-1945, 1950 1953 who was a Captain in a Para-infantry Battalion ) though I have been bruised. As a guitar player I am often mastered by many. It was never my intention to master anyone. I play gut-bucket rock and roll and blues and some country. All I need I already have. I wish you enjoyment of your freedom.

            How about neither?

          • mobuyus

I like beer and I like pot. I also love hashish and whiskey. And as to the “How about neither” no.

          • bargogx1

Fine, but if you’re trying to claim you need one to kick the other, I’m not buying it.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

Well, I did laugh out loud.
I agree with you but I’ll take the cigarettes and alcohol. (Obvious Oasis reference.)

          • mobuyus

Never really heard them. In the 1980’s I was listening to a lot of Rhythm and Blues and for alt rock I liked the Beat Farmers. You may very well like them too.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

I have heard of the Beat Farmers, but you know, back in the day, spending ten to fifteen bucks on someone you didn’t know was a risky proposition.
How many times did you get stiffed on a record store gamble?

          • mobuyus

I only went to a record store to buy what I had wanted. The only time I thought I had been stiffed was when I bought Johnny Winter’s Second Winter it was a double album but with only three sides.

            Funny!

          • dance…dancetotheradio

            Agreed.
And all he had to do to take that hammer out of Justine’s hand was promise to explore the possibility of legalization.

        • dance…dancetotheradio

Never mind that Trudeau has to break three UN treaties to legalize it.
          It’s never going to happen.

          • mobuyus

It’s been legal in Peurto Backyardo(my backyard) for years. Breaking un treaties has got to be a good thing in my books.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

Would he ever break a UN treaty when he’s a slavish proponent of what they do?

          • mobuyus

The cats out of the bag on pot and it’s never going back in. justin will weasel his way at the un amongst other weasels. Would he break an out of date treaty at the un as many other countries do? He’ll weasel his way out.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

            Nope.
I think he’s going to let it linger around as an issue for the next election just so he can campaign on it again.
It is never going to fucking happen.
It’s a fucking unicorn dream that he snared and he’ll never let it go.

          • mobuyus

I look at momentum when I analyze a situation. The only thing I can see getting in the way is unspecified events carryout by unspecified individuals from unspecified countries for unspecified purposes for an unspecified religion of peace.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

            That’s very amuzzling.

        • doowleb

People voted for a snowboard instructor.

Drugs are to blame for that.

      • mobuyus

People that would get that dopey on drugs probably don’t vote. I believe justins pot gambit was a bone thrown to aging liberal hippies. I would blame the leftist teachers and university profs for rotting the minds of the youth with that political correctness and progressive kumbuya crap long before I would blame “drugs” for ekecting a snowboard instructor. Oh and I blame “man buns” too.

        • I am not saying that they are NOT to blame but that there are others as well.

    • dance…dancetotheradio

Obscure Police lyrical reference: Don’t tell the director I said so, but are you safe Sgt. Stadenko?

    • Alain

Sorry but I have to disagree on this. Although I am not a firm supporter of government deciding what a person can do, Trudeau did not win due to the votes of pot users. This just is not a major issue for the majority of voters.

      • mobuyus

I have ten non pot users in my family that will not vote for someone running on an anti pot ticket. Pot users are not a monolithic block, they have many other pressing concerns and many of the same concerns as non pot users. If Kelly Leitch is going to run under an antiquidated anti pot crusade she will lose. And like Steven Harper she’ll declare that she can hold her head high for not caving to the “drug lobby”. There is not one person in Canada alive today that is not taking a drug of some sort. The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing. And the main thing is not allowing islam to flourish unchallenged. Those vehiminently anti pot are inline with islamic jurisprudence on this. I am sorry about this and I do not want to come back in a year and say “I told you so”. It isn’t possible to go back to the days of “Father Knows Best”.

  • Jaedo Drax

You want to legalize it, then let it happen after there is a roadside test for Marijuana impairment.

I knew sgt Snedanko…..very well indeed…..I remember him leaning out a second floor window at the RCMP barracks in Vancouver shouting angrily at me….very exercised he was. And incidentally he was a truly stupid bully boy ….just as Cheech and Chong memorialized him.
Oh how we laffed when he was tossing my apartment…..he hadn’t seen blotter acid….which the refrigerator was full of….caught him in the coal cellar once looking for God only knows.
Ah….memories of discovering the so called world as we knew it.
Silly twats file had two hookers and two junkies in Vancouver then overnight the town was full of hippies by 1966. He was beside himself.

    • mobuyus

I did loads of blotter, white clinical, LSD25 and the last, a couple of years ago which was the Mandala which was not as good as the white blotter but not too bad. I think acid should be mandatory at least once in a citizens life. Under controlled circumstances.

      • dance…dancetotheradio

        • mobuyus

If I was with friends the acid would go off like a bomb and everybody headed in different directions. You really have to be comfortable with someone to take acid together.
