Illegal border crossings spark concerns about criminals entering Canada: Poll

Canadians have empathy for refugees crossing into the country illegally but their concern over border security trumps all, a newly-released poll reveals.

Angus Reid Institute found that 50% of Canadians believe there’s a significant or huge risk of criminals and other dangerous individuals crossing into Canada through the unguarded border points now used by asylum seekers heading north from the U.S.

Almost three in every four Canadians want the country to focus its resources on monitoring and patrolling the border to discourage more crossings.

But doesn’t our government believe anything that is permitted or encouraged in the Quran can’t be a crime?

  • Oracle9

Coulda sworn that a radical leftist government was the choice of the electorate.

When were they ever our friends?

  • Canadian Born

Why doesn’t the poll include every Canadian? I have never been polled and I am almost 70 born and raised in Canada. To me they only poll the ones they can control. We need a man that has the balls to take this moron down. If not by the end of his term Canada will be renamed Canastan, and our ancestors will have died for nothing.

In WW2 your ancestors were allied with the Soviets and Joe Stalin.

  • The Somalis are NOT refugees by any stretch of the imagination. I, therefore, have no pity for them.

Furthermore, Canadians voted for this. They can deal with the uptick in crime and taxes.

    • Tooth&Claw

Some Canadians voted for this. The rest of us are appalled.

      • That thirty-nine percent still breathes oxygen and that is what irks me.

          Marijuana talks I guess.

          • A drug that further clouds their judgment and will be taxed.

      • john700

        About 70% of them.
The rest of us should get a second passport.

    • John Boy

They are refugees who are fleeing for their lives, that is until they have saved up enough from their second and third identities for welfare, so they and their families can go back to Somalia for vacactions.

  • Linda1000

The U.S. is in the process of deporting 4,000 Somali migrants/illegals while Canada has an border with law enforcement and RCMP helping anyone and everyone to cross into Canada. Go figure.

I received a survey in today’s post from the CPC asking me to indicate if I agreed, disagreed or had no opinion on a list of topics. All were about the economy and certainly important issues, but it annoyed me that there was nothing on immigration, illegals or border control. I answered their questions and wrote that it should have included questions on immigration, illegals and border control, especially as Europe is a prime example of ignoring the issue. It really infuriates me to no end that every political party seems scared shitless to address these issues.
