People who read the news more likely to be Islamophobic, study finds

People who read the news are more likely to feel angry towards Muslims, a new study has found.

Whether liberal or conservative, researchers found more avid news consumers showed both increased anger and reduced warmth towards members of the Islamic faith.

The findings, based on responses from 16,584 New Zealanders from the New Zealand Attitudes and Values Study (NZAVS), were published in leading international science journal PLOS ONE.

The authors said it showed widespread representations of Muslims in the news were contributing to lower acceptance.

Shorter Independent – Islamophobia = Islamorealism.

Most of my friends prefer to stay in the bubble and cast aspersions on conservatives from that safe place.

    • Take heart, Daniel Pipes had it right- Education by Murder opens eyes.

      • So just say it another way.

Learn about Islam. You won’t like the Islamic death cult.

        • Oracle9

It takes some interest and a bit of work (well, quite a bit of work – you have to be grabbed by it) to really understand the Bedouin mindset which is the basis of sharia law, honor-based vs guilt-based cultures, the history, and the real live dynamics of the Islamic hellholes.

That eliminates 99% of the Western liberals, and through their ignorance they see those who try to warn them as the enemy.

No wonder they don’t know their holes from an ass in the ground when it comes to dealing with the Great Replacement.

Middle East Forum President Daniel Pipes: “Radical Islam is the problem and moderate Islam is the solution.”

        • Etobicoke_Gladiator

I do not believe in any “moderate Islam”. It is a fiction that will never transpire. I do hope I’m proven wrong but it will never be anything more than restricted to Muslim academics and public figures such as Raheel Raza and Tarek Fatah and Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Mainstream “moderate Islam” taking hold of the masses from Pakistan to Egypt to Indonesia to western nations will NEVER happen.

          • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

Raheel and Tarek are smiling taqiyya masters who believe
a pedophile warlord was a the perfect man.

You can compare Jihadists and Moderates to abusive spouses.

Some beat and try to kill you (Jihadists) and others fuck with your mind and abuse you emotionally (Moderates). Both are bad.

            Hirsi Ali is an ex-Muslim.

          • Etobicoke_Gladiator

Maybe you’re right. However, although Ayaan Hirsi Ali is an ex-Muslim, she still believes and posits a “reformed Islam” as the main solution to solve the seemingly intractable global issue of radical Islam (or what I think is straight up Islam, plain and simple).

          • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

She was born and raised in Islam for most of her life.
she’s naturally going to have those “What if we just do this…..maybe we can try reach out” thoughts.

She’s also a women, Most women’s brains are wired to trying to smooth things over instead of doing what actually has to be done.

        • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

          Jihadists kill people.

Moderates pump out babies, gain political power and change laws….

Two sides of the same coin.

The only friends of the west are EX Muslims.

    • Most people don’t pay attention until things affect them personally.

      Give it a little time.

      • mobuyus

How much time? What of the EU muckety-muck that had his beautiful daughter raped and murdered by an afghani “child” and his doubling down on the “islam is a peaceful religion” shit?

        • Enough time for the Muslim population to reach 5%-8%. That’s when the takeover begins, and it will be impossible to hide.

          • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

Focus on the media, government and traitors first.

No different then the early days of any war, you need to target
the enemies infrastructure, communications and defenses first so they (Muslims) have less to fight with and nowhere to hide.

Remove the politicians who support open borders and Muslim immigration and you cut off their supply lines.

      • A Hamilton Guy

        That’s ’cause they’re selfish pricks.

  • ontario john

We don’t have that problem in Sunny Ways Canada. The media is strictly controlled by the elites, to prevent any of that Islamophobia nonsense. Why, we even had the Toronto Star awhile back, lecture other papers about their islamophobia comments.

    • Etobicoke_Gladiator

Well, Mohammed, in his way was a social justice warrior back in the day, no? He also championed womens’ rights, minority rights, and freedom of speech, right?

Hmm….. Oh, sorry, I glanced at some CBC and Toronto Star headings. 😉

      • ontario john

And don’t forget Islam’s great contribution to the history of Canada.

        • You bet, that’s a big part of Justin Trudeau’s learnings.

Yes, I hear that in between puffing his hydroponic foot long joint in trendy downtown Montreal, Justin T. is busy researching and writing his magnum opus on the countless Muslim contributions to Canada, before and after Confederation. Why, alone the contributions in Lower Canada and Upper Canada are infinite!

          • Clink9

And they were first on the moon!

Not only that but you can also hear the call to prayer on the moon.

          • LairdKintyre

Yes some Muslim dude in the 14th century made a flying machine and went there. Leonardo DaVinci later stole the idea but couldn’t get it work. It was all in the President of Turkey’s speech last year.

          • LairdKintyre

Yes according to the 1871 census alone there were believed to be as many as 15 of them in the Dominion of Canada.

The media did however misquote Justin. He meant “”Sunni ways”” not Sunny Ways.

  • jayme

People who have been robbed, raped or assaulted by Muslims more likely to be Islamophobic.

    • Say it isn’t so!

      • andycanuck

        Say it ain’t so, Mo!

    • mobuyus

Unless they are uber white liberal mouthing pieties and platitudes to the “religion of peace” to the point of frozen rictus.

Well, ‘ignorance is bliss’, after all…

    • Inevitably.

    • AlanUK

” … where ignorance is bliss, ’tis folly to be wise.”

Part of the last couplet from Thomas Gray’s poem, “Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College” (1742).

  • Editor

Bottom line, the better informed you are, the more likely you are to be “islamophobic”. Or have a healthy mistrust of islam, as I prefer to call it. Kind of makes sense.

  • Waffle

My neighbour assures me that they’re not all “like that’. But then again, she believes in the Tooth Fairy.

    • Ask her to point out the ones who are “like that”.

    • deplorabledave

she believes in the Tooth Fairy. HMMM

      • Waffle

She hasn’t seen the inside of a church in decades,so I guess you have to believe in something. Her firm belief in the idea that under the hijab everybody is the same and wants the same things for themselves and their children never fails to amaze me. I gave up trying to open her eyes long ago– it was a waste of time and effort. However, I do send her the occasional clipping but I doubt if it has any effect. Again, her default response is: “but they’re not all like that”.

        • Alain

Ask her to justify them slitting the throats of their own children.

    • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

Look in their eyes when they say it…. listen to those, not the words.

    • LairdKintyre

Yes and not everyone who calls themselves Catholic thinks birth control and homosexuality and pre marital sex is a sin. It doesn’t ever take away from the fact that it is Canon Law, and whether some or a few or most Catholics doesn’t change that fact. It makes you want to just grab a Leftist and show them a picture of a woman in a burka, “”see? This is a muslim””. Then show them a picture of the Quran, haddith and say, :””This is the codified law of Islam””. I’m not talking about Muslims, I’m talking about Islam.

  • tom_billesley

People who can read are more likely to be islamophobic.
Those translators of the koran have much to answer for.

  • moraywatson

An islamophobe is a sane person who understands the truth about islam.

  • P_F

You mean the people who keep themselves well informed are a threat to the globalists/political elites??

  • rich

    replace islamophobic with islamorealist

  • Ego

People who are informed about what Islam means are against it. What a surprise.

  • Norman_In_New_York

This assumes that the media tell the truth, which is not a readily acceptable proposition.

    • lolwut? (Deplorable Hoser)

Now that we have alternative media setting the record straight and exposing the MSM it really doesn’t matter anymore.

The media is running out of coded lingo to refer to Muslims and blacks
when they commit crime and terrorism..

Would love to be a fly on the wall in a newsroom in Europe when they are trying to figure out how to mask the name of a Muslim named “Muhammad Muhammad”

  • I find that reading up on things makes me more hostile to idiocy and tyranny.

    Sorry, NZAVS.

  • A Hamilton Guy

You are not supposed to know what’s going on. You might get more pissed off and vote conservative. If that will do you much good.

My Life changed forever on 9-11. Before that day, I was never an avid news reader. That all changed on that day forever. It started off like any other typical workday. I was living on Canada’s West coast and literally slept through the earlier attacks. I drove to work, listened to my music blissfully unaware. When I got to work I passed by someone who told a friend of mine, another plane just hit the Pentagon. I laughed, thought it was a joke. The lounge was dead quiet. Everyone was watching what I thought had to be a movie. Buildings in new York in flames. I asked my friend what was going on. He said, there’s going to be a fucking war that’s what’s going on. That night I layed like a zombie forhours long after midnight, staring at the TV watching the same reports again and again. Drifting in and out of sleep. All I could think about was those poor people trapped on those planes with madmen commendeering them as missles. It was never supposed to be this way. We won our Freedom from their domination so long ago it’s legend. What gave them the right to come here and invade our lives?

    • LairdKintyre

      How’s that for islamophobia?

      • LairdKintyre

Needless to say, a day hasn’t passed since where I don’t in the very least scan the national and international headlines. The only thing I have to thank them for is I’m not asleep any longer.
