Government Says Man’s Last Name Too ‘Offensive’ For License Plate

A Canadian provincial government has withdrawn a man’s eponymous personalized vehicle license plate, saying Lorne Grabher’s surname is offensive to women when viewed on his car bumper.

Government is like a smothering blanket in this country. Instead of providing some basic services to the population, it looks for more and more ways to control and influence people. And a good example of how often incompetent they are at doing it, is the latest campaign to discredit the provincial Tories. It seems the Wynne government can’t even smear its opponents with out screwing it up. The National Post website has the story of the Wynne Liberals ranting about the Tory leader being sexist for speaking at an all mens club, except they got the venue wrong, and the meeting was open to all genders.

But were the women sitting in a different room and wearing hijabs?

Like the Ontario Tories need any discrediting.

      • BillyHW

They do a pretty good job of that themselves.

What is offensive is the outrageously high fees governments across Canada charge for license sticker renewals. Mr. Grabher will still be forced to pay this fee without being provided the license plate he requested. If this was a private sector business he could have taken it too court and would have won. The government is the real criminal.

    • Alain

I believe you have to pay more for a personalised license plate if I am not mistaken. He was willing to do so and should have been issued the plate requested. It is his surname after all, so does it mean he can no longer use his own name in public?

    • WalterBannon

      he should sue for slander

      • Clausewitz

Just another case of lefties projecting. It say’s his last name Grabher. not Grab Her. Again projection.

  • Tom Forsythe

I am surprised no rapper has sampled Trump’s off-colour comment.

  • Dana Garcia

Lorne should change his name to Grabhim.

  • Frances

Who’s the hateful idiot who complained? She needs to be outed.

  • Watchman

Expected next step: Lorne Grabher being required to change his family name by the Canadian government, “for the safety of Canadian women”.

Should be worth about 10 million.

I once saw a New York license plate that said SHTUP. I wonder how many in Nova Scotia know what that word means.

    • Shebel

      Probably more than in NFLD

My Mum lives in Halifax and I guess a lot of people downhome where calling in to the local radio talk show and think the whole thing is ridiculous. Apparently some chick going through the drive thru in a Tim Horton’s saw the plate and was so triggered that she couldn’t bring herself to order her morning long john and XL dark roast ( I made that last part up about the long john and dark roast) Anyway, she complained to the motor vehicle registry and viola a chance to jump on the Trump dog pile presented itself.
