Prayer Room At Public High School Raises Legal Concerns

Liberty High School’s prayer room, which is reportedly dedicated to students who practice Islam, allows the students to pray at the school on Fridays instead of leaving to say their required prayers. The letter cites the school’s own news site, which focused on the prayer room.

Where’s the Catholic chapel? I’d like to attend daily mass. Can I hang a crucifix on the wall of my classroom to inspire me? How about a little one on my desk?

    Establishment of religion, anyone?

They gonna need to install a prayer colander for the followers of The Flying Spaghetti Monster… Or there will be trouble!

    • Christmas carols are bad, mmmkay?

Oh, NOW they’re all for religion in public schools.

Christians (Catholic, Protestant, whatever) need to band together and demand their own prayer rooms and other full observances of their faith also be respected. For good measure, invite the Jews, Buddhists, and others to tag along on the warpath.

Make the liberals choke on their precious opposition to prayer in public schools.

why are my tax dollars paying for this? my charter rights are being violated by taxes being spent in this way

When I was going to school 60 years ago, students were given release time for their religious observances. That way, they were accommodated without any First Amendment violations.

Why do people assume that religious observances are an obligation not a choice?
You choose to pray. You choose not to. You may choose to go to the building created for that purpose of prayer, or you do not.
Pretending it’s an obligation is nonsense.
