The Chickening! Subway sues CBC over ‘soy chicken’ report

The Chickening!

  • WalterBannon

So CBC published fake news? And now its going to cost taxpayers a couple hundred million? nice.

    another Gawker

    • If the court so decides…

    • dance…dancetotheradio

Why would CBC go after Subway?
Subway had a pedophile as their spokesman for years.
      They should be bestest friends.

      • David Murrell

Who was the pedo? Up to this point I was rooting for Subway.

        • dance…dancetotheradio

          Jared Fogle.

      • k1992

Many of their restaurants are halal compliant as well therefore I haven’t been to Subway for years, personally.

        • dance…dancetotheradio

This is going to sound strange but I only ever really agreed to go there because of the soup.
I knew it was fake and it didn’t bother me.
          The sandwiches?
Too much bread and really sketchy cold cuts.
And the biggest pet peeve was when you ordered a BLT and they would ask you what you wanted on it.
I wanted to get cards made up with BLT instructions and pretend I was deaf so they wouldn’t ask me stupid questions.

          • Justin St.Denis

At Timmy’s, where I always order a “Medium-size Dark Roast Regular”, I am frequently asked “D’ya want any cream or sugar in that?” Maybe signage is the way to go! BTW, this will only get worse……..

          • Blacksmith

I usually replied its a B L T, Figure it out. I haven’t been to one in a few years though.

        • Ha! Can soy chicken be halal?

          • dance…dancetotheradio

If you slaughter it with a plastic knife?

          • Watchman

Only if the Soy are killed in a Halal manner: their tiny throats cut and the beans allowed to bleed sap while a muslim recites a prayer over each bean.

who cares..stupid Canhead taxpayers got lotsa $money.. $210 million pphhrrt
..and CBC parasites will give themselves another yugge payraise

Coming soon, restaurant chains Buffalo Wild Wings expected to sue the CBC as soon as CBC publishes their findings that their Buffalo Wings were tested and found to contain 0% buffalo meat.

  • Starlord

It looks like foamy loafy rectangles with fake grill marks.

CBC has some past history in terms of stubbornly persisting in defending untrue or overly spun stories. However, if they lose the Subway suit, the damages could make the Dr. Leenen libel suit award look like chicken feed.

“After winning his case in Ontario’s Superior Court, Dr. Leenen said, ‘Four years ago we proposed to settle this law suit for $10,000 and an on-air apology. It was refused…The Fifth Estate persisted and took me through 10 weeks of trial.’

The trial judge awarded very high damages for libel against The Fifth Estate and the CBC as well as individual reporters and producers. The CBC appealed. Ontario’s Court of Appeal disagreed with the CBC, and ruled that Dr. Leenen had been libelled. Finally, the CBC tried to take the case to Canada’s highest court, the Supreme Court of Canada.

    • Yup, they lost big time. But why should they care? It ain’t their money.

      • terrence22

Nope, it is money taken from the peasants, and the royal elite at the CBC are entitled to it, and a LOT more

  • tom_billesley

Perhaps they’ll be field testing this stuff next. Poultry, but not as we know it.

    • dance…dancetotheradio

You know I used to think that it would be revolutionary if they could grow meat without killing animals.
I still do for reasons like space exploration and stuff.
But, I think that would result in a lot fewer animals and the vegans would still find a way to object to it.
Even if that meat never had a face, because they maintain they won’t eat anything that had one, they would still find it offensive.
See, I’m starting to think they are some sort of mitochondrial supremacy cult.
And if you have chloroplasts and cellulose based cell walls instead of mitochondria and fat based cell membranes you are not even a second class citizen.

      • canminuteman

If we didn’t eat chickens, they would become extinct. They can’t survive in the wild and no one is going to feed them unless they return the favour.

        • dance…dancetotheradio

          Good point.
I read somewhere that chickens were great back in the day because they could feed a family a day at a time.

          • canminuteman

I understand that in “the olden days” chickens were too valuable to eat. They were kept for eggs and the only ones most people got to eat were the worn out old hens. It’s only in the last fifty years that chicken became cheap enough for it to become such a common meat. It was modern agricultural practices that made that possible.

          • El Martyachi

We had a couple dozen chickens in a coop .. waaaaaaaayyy back in the 80s! We’d chop some of ’em down once a year.

            Cities suck.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

I’ll take your word for it because I like you.

          • Blacksmith

That is how we did it on the farm, eggs made more money and food than eating the chicken.

        • Watchman

The PETA solution would be the genocide of the domesticated chicken (and turkeys, and dogs too).

          • dance…dancetotheradio

Makes you wonder if they wish them all dead.
The Humane Society offers an important clue.

      • tom_billesley

It could never be halal without a throat to cut.

    • Yikes!

  • Maxsteele

More tax payers dollars flushed down the toilet defending these socialist parasites.

    • barryjr

I wonder how much this will cost me as a tax payer.

      • Watchman

Progressive: “It’s not taxpayers money; it’s CBC money.”
Marginally smarter Progressive: “It’s not taxpayers money; it’s government money.”

    • Have a look at processed frozen chicken fingers etc in your neighborhood grocer’s freezer, it’s appalling to read things like “now contains 20% chicken” etc.

      • Watchman

Chickens now have fingers? I ain’t eating those GMO chickens; back in my day, they only had feet, and only the asians ate those.

        • I tried chicken feet once… Once.

        • Editor

Well, I hear buffaloes have wings so chicken fingers ain’t that big of a stretch.

          • Miss Trixie

Don’t bend over in the garden, Granny! Them taters got eyes!

            (Louis Grizzard, I think)

      • ntt1

and that is mechanicaly “reclaimed” I d rather enjoy a chicken that is not made from misplaced bits

Much so called MSM investigative reporting involving consumer (especially fresh takeout and supermarket) products can involve an “undercover snake” getting hired and then demonstrating “special money saving talents” to gullible managers with a crooked streak. It would be interesting to find out how widespread the CBC’s “fake chicken” search was, how many outlets were sampled, and exactly where the supposedly substandard product “cashed out” in quantity to make such an effort worthwhile.

  • simus1

Une dossier tres complex, bien sur, pour les poules.
Insp Clouseau peut gérer ce cas, si les choses deviennent terribles

  • Everyone Else

Sue the CBC for containing 100% bullshit.

Send the overpaid civil servants to the dung heap.

Let them masturbate themselves to sleep with the fantasy they are social justice warriors.

Off with Off and the others in the pampered clique of the media party.

Kill the CBC and all it stands for.
