Dutch head to polls amid tense immigration policy debate

Up to 13 million Dutch voters are heading to the polls on Wednesday to elect 150 members of the lower house of parliament in a symbolic Euroscepticism showdown that seems to have split society along the immigration policy divide.

Some 28 parties are competing in the election which is largely viewed as a face-off between ultranationalist Geert Wilders and the current Prime Minister Mark Rutte. Under the proportional representation system, any party who receives more than 0.67 percent of the vote, will pass the mandated threshold and get at least one seat.

I have a bit of a connection to Holland, and may actually owe my existence to the bravery of some Dutch people, who helped my father escape the Nazis after his plane was shot down. The story is in this post from a UK site devoted to pilots in WWII who were shot down but escaped capture:

Mr Rutte has said that the “wrong sort of populism” will win the day if Mr Wilders triumph’s in today’s election in the Netherlands.

Europe Elects says that ballot papers are “running out” and some polling stations are swamped because turnout is so high. It added: “Turnout in some polling stations hits 100%. Turnout today to surpass 80%, maybe even 85% (2012: 74.6%). Media reports some station have run out of ballots.”

Polling station in a mosque, eh? Coming to Canada soon.

To make the process more environmentally friendly, they’d do away with paper ballots and get voters to walk through doors marked with their party choice. You can guess the rest…

The leaders of Canada will be elected and advised from a mosque at the rate Imam Trudeau is going.

It’d be Trump and Russia to blame …
Washington based lawyer Robert Amsterdam says that the wave of populism in Europe ahead of the elections is a result of political correctness gone wrong.
“It’s clear that Geert Wilders and other anti-immigrant nationalists in Europe feel emboldened by the US election outcome and, in some cases, have been seen to be financially or strategically supported by Russia.”

    Holland. Please vote for Wilders.
You will survive any problems you see in him.
You will not survive some of the problems that I, and you, can see in the other choices.
If you do not survive, then I am in greater danger. Then the home of two of my grandparents birth will be in greater danger.

The actions of the others will likely end the Netherlands.

Wilders is almost certainly going to lose.

FUCK HOLLAND. FUCK EUROPE. That shithole of a continent can burn in hell for all I care.
