Three-quarters of Canadians support testing new immigrants to Canada for “anti-Canadian” values, a new poll commissioned by the French-language division of CBC reveals.
While the questions did not specifically mention Conservative leadership candidate Kellie Leitch, her pitch clearly resonates with a majority of Canadians. This is consistent with previous poll data showing a majority of Canadians from across the political spectrum support her controversial idea.
The poll also reveals a quarter of Canadians would support a ban on Muslim immigration to Canada, similar to the temporary ban on arrivals from six Muslim majority countries signed by President Donald Trump. That number rises to a third in Quebec.
