        Meh.
I’ve gone through those, to being enraged, finally to settle down to an almost nihilistic cynical apathy. I now realize that no matter who we vote in, or what type of political system we implement, we are doomed.
The only way out is either anarchy or totalitarianism.
        Personally, I choose anarchy.

  • FactsWillOut

I am now convinced that defending “women’s reproductive rights” is the death knell of any society.
Contraception is much, much worse than abortion.

    • Tooth&Claw

You’d rather go back to the days when families had 12 or more children? I’m from a large family. Trust me, the eldest children (especially the girls) seldom wanted children of their own as they were already raising their younger siblings. Mom was pregnant every year or two and perpetually sleep deprived. There is only so much of Mom and Dad to go around.
That particular arrangement causes it’s own problems.

      • FactsWillOut

Demographic suicide is not among the problems.

        • Tooth&Claw

No. It just causes a greater competition for resources.

          • FactsWillOut

In any case, the fact remains, societies that allow free and unhindered access to contraceptives are doomed.
Whatever solution one may try to implement for this fact is bound to be unpleasant.

          • Tooth&Claw

There are some people out there that should never ever be parents too.

          • FactsWillOut

            I disagree
Couple has sex at the right time, woman gets pregnant. That’s how it works. It is not for you, I or society to say who should or should not breed, as a matter of fact, when women are given the choice to breed or not, enough of them choose not to to allow the fertility rate to drop below replacement level, eventually killing the society. Children have become lifestyle accessories.

          • Tooth&Claw

Yes sex does work that way. Easy to become a parent, however, being a parent and doing the work it involves to raise a child is a different argument. Yes, there are people that treat children as lifestyle accoutrements. There are also people that do not. I know which I’d prefer to reproduce.

          • FactsWillOut

There have always been poor parents.
Chances are, we both have ancestors that were poor parents.
Still, good thing that they were indeed parents, despite being poor ones, no?

          • Tooth&Claw

Where did I say poor? There are other types of poverty that have nothing to do with money. That’s what I speak of.

          • FactsWillOut

            poor
            adjective

            1. lacking sufficient money to live at a standard considered comfortable or normal in a society.
“people who were too poor to afford a telephone”
synonyms: poverty-stricken, penniless, moneyless, impoverished, low-income, necessitous, impecunious, indigent, needy, destitute, pauperized, unable to make ends meet

            2. worse than is usual, expected, or desirable; of a low or inferior standard or quality.

            I meant the second definition.
As in of poor quality or of poor performance.

          • Tooth&Claw

Well you and disagree on that point. Not that every life is without struggle, but I’d rather have parents that know how to take care of more than just the bare minimum as far as parenting goes. Let alone have some that are downright abusive.

          • FactsWillOut

As I see it, that ain’t my, yours, or societies call.
There are many things I would prefer, but I don’t think forcing society to conform to my preferences is a good idea, not to mention all the unintended consequences.

          • Tooth&Claw

True enough. Can’t force people to be better than they are. They have to choose it.

          • FactsWillOut

            Yep.
I do agree with you, in a sense though.
I don’t think we should let savages who think that rape is a normal part of life into the country, and folk who do think so should be deported, imprisoned, whipped, etc.
But I don’t think some kid should be ripped from his parents just because they’re a couple of drunks, or because the mother is a whore. They should only be taken from the parents when their life or health is in danger, IMHO.
One person’s spanking is another’s beating.
The more the state butts its nose into the family, the worse things will become, no matter what the intentions.

      • I, too, came from a big family.

The choice is this: a big family like yours or a big family like Omar Khadr’s.

        • Tooth&Claw

So only the degree of dysfunction matters? I think Bill Whittle outlines the argument best : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCRXJcE7dcw

          • FactsWillOut

What actually sums it up best is:

            P(n+1)=P(n)*exp(f*(1-P(n)))

If the fertility rate f drops below a certain threshold, the Population P drops to zero.
No arguments about rights, convenience, resources, etc can change this fact.

          • FactsWillOut

R/k selection theory has one massive hole: The worst collectives in history (The USSR and China) never had a coddled middle class.

          • Your family has values that work in the West. Khadr’s family does not.

            That’s a big degree.

          • Watchman

I would suggest that everyone also needs to watch the Canadian philosopher, Stefan Molyneaux, and his three part series on r/kK theory.

If anyone here is interested in the strange ways populations respond to fertility levels, I recommend this 19 minute video:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETrYE4MdoLQ

Although the video doesn’t explicitly state the fact that feminism = extinction, it does put the lie to one of the biggest whoppers the left has ever saddled society with, that of “the population explosion”.
When the architects of the Frankfurt School unleashed its critical theory scourge on us, their goal was to de-stabilize our society enough so that communism could be implemented. Little did they realize that the feminist part would actually be devastating enough to kill the society altogether, and now its adherents are trying to spread this disease all over the world.

The degree of pure evil involved makes the Islamic hordes look like pikers.
This is what the west has become.
