Obama Administration Looks To Be In Very Serious Legal Trouble

There is a lot of breaking news this weekend as the nation learns that a sitting President (Obama) looks to have used the nation’s national security apparatus – which is empowered to protect this nation from foreign enemies and threats – for crass political gain (read “personal gain”). If this is even partially true, this would be Watergate on steroids and irreparably tarnish the Obama administration for all history.

These high stakes may also explain the irrational fear and hate by the democrat leadership we have seen in their scorched-Earth actions since the election. Events may be unraveling on them big time, events that started last summer in a very different world.

  • My question to anyone who knows the answer is: can Obama be tried and imprisoned for his illegal actions as “president” or is he immune? If it is proved he abused his powers can he be punished?

    • Brett_McS

It would have to get pretty crowded under the bus, first.

      • Team Obama in “Serious Legal Trouble”.

The headline alone, makes my day.

    • Hard Little Machine

He is not immune, no. Whether there’s a probability that it would happen is another matter. Obama is an expert at legal wrangling and hairsplitting to avoid accountability

The only real question in this regard is whether a jury would convict.

      • So, you think he is in principle legally liable.

    • If the answer is in fact “yes” then there’s a bigger problem: there were so many violations by so many people in the Obama admin that were never prosecuted when they should have been, I think the Trump admin will have to “cherry pick” and chose the most important violations to pursue. Otherwise Trump’s entire first term will be focused on people who should be in jail, and there are a lot of them — too many to justify the time and effort, imo.

      • Norman_In_New_York

Trump in that case should leave it to the Justice Department while attending to presidential business.

        • He’s still going to have to stay on top of it and tweet about it from time to time. Otherwise we all know that the Media will simply flood the public with propaganda and fake news in order to stir up as much social unrest and violence as possible. And like always, they will blame their actions on Trump.

I don’t consider Trump’s tweets as simply “musings of an eccentric billionaire” — I consider his tweets as a necessary and effective anti-propaganda tool in the current war on free speech being waged by the fascist Left.

          • I agree. Trump’s tweets are weapons of war, and he’s using them well. Just with these tweets about Obama this weekend, he managed to throw the Russia ball back into the opponents’ court. His style reminds me of the idea of the book/movie “Being There”, in which just through simplicity a mere gardener manages to hoist himself near the top of the power tower.

          • Watchman

Some of his tweets are fantastically great. Others are absolutely woeful and needed to be passed by the eyes of a someone else before he tweeted. It’s not as consistently good as I would have liked.

          • Yes, but it is nice to get to the president’s mind directly, without filter.

      • Well, Trump promised to drain the swamp – this is one of the main goals of his presidency.

        • I absolutely hope he succeeds — but he doesn’t even have his Cabinet in place yet because the Dems have succeeded in obstructing the process. And of the Cabinet that Trump does have in place, the Dems have already succeeded in kneecapping two of them scarcely six weeks into his administration: the NSA Chief, and the Attorney General.

          • Yeah, the leftists are still powerful all right. The magnitude of the problems of Western society are made evident to us every day.

      • WalterBannon

sessions should focus on every last one of them – drain the swamp

    • Gary

He will go free just like Hillary because the corrupt Democrats still inside the system will find Obama too stupid to have such a complex scheme which means they FBI and Loretta Lynch can’t prove Intent.

It worked for Hillary back in July 2016 , but she used that in her campaign to brag how stupid she was to be declared innocent of intent and now wonders why she lost to Trump .

      • Watchman

Hillary failure to secure above-top-secret information did not require proof of intent to secure a conviction as far as I can tell. The requirement is that a person must keep information entrusted to them secure, the failure to do so is a crime. In a similar way, some other offences don’t require intent – how far would you get if you told an officer that you should be excused from all speeding tickets because you didn’t intend to speed?

Comey harped on how there was insufficient proof Hillary intended to be incompetent or malicious in her handling of top secret intelligence, but that isn’t the standard for a conviction.

        • This Comey guy – I strongly suspect and suspected then that he is not regular.

        • Gary

Good luck telling the IRS that you deleted 3 years of income receipts and let’s just move on because what difference at this point does it make.

    • WalterBannon

he has no more rights than you or me

      • Well, it is not axiomatic to my mind (but I am not a jurist). One can imagine that the job of president once over is a closed book.

    • Etobicoke_Gladiator

Immune, I hope. It would be a grave error to try Obama after he left office. This would create enormous difficulties in the USA.

      • Yes, you have a point. The leftists would freak out completely if Obama was arrested.

  • clearsky

if it is true. Looks like Trump based his accusations on Levin who in turn based it on dispatches from NY Times and WP. There are denials from Clapper and FBI which are not mentioned in the linked article. We will have to wait to find out. But in any case it will be a victory for Trump. If it is not true, it will be another example of fake news from major newspapers.

    • Brett_McS

If Mark Levin says there is something there, there is something there. He is ultra-careful about backing up every he says. Clapper lied to Congress and the FBI ‘denials’ have no meaning.

  • Brett_McS

You know the one person Obama forgot to pardon? Himself.

    • It would have been admission of guilt!

  • Jabberwokk

It is monday morning as I’m reading the snippet and I am thankful for this good news. TY Mr. Nightmouse

  • moraywatson

Remember all those Democrats demanding Trump’s impeachment ?! They’re not so rabid at the moment. Funny that ?! Even Shuck Choomer has moved on to talking about the border wall…

  • WalterBannon

it would be great to see obama in prison

    • Oh, yes! Take that cynical, conceited smirk off his face.
