German secret service spied on journalists at the BBC, The New York Times and Reuters for more than a DECADE

Media rights group Reporters Without Borders labelled the alleged surveillance ‘a monstrous attack on press freedom’, voiced fears the eavesdropping was ongoing and said it was planning legal action, according to Der Spiegel.

    Well, I should hope so.

      Indeed. It is hard to root for any side here. Thr NYT has been pro-Taliban for a long time. So spying on their journalists in Afghanistan, with their many Taliban contacts, would yield rich dividends.

    Merkel was pretty angry a few years back when she found out Obama was spying on her.

    Of course they all spy. That’s what governments do.

        Since die merkelbeest worked as a “physicist/teacher(?)” rather than clearing blocked sewers, one would be safe in presuming her annual “copy book” evaluations were were perfection plus.

    C’mon journalists, lighten up. It’s Merkel. You love Merkel. Somebody has to make sure you don’t harbour wrong feelings toward her immigration policy.
