The Islamic State’s Greatest Wish: U.S. Combat Forces in Syria

“The Defense Department might propose that the US send conventional ground combat forces into northern Syria for the first time to speed up the fight against ISIS,” CNN reported last week. No options have been formally presented to the National Security Council or President Trump for consideration, and there will certainly be more choices on the menu for the NSC staff to consider. But if the deployment of potentially sending several thousand U.S. conventional forces into Syria is truly an option that the Trump administration is considering, then it should think long and hard before signing the order.

Nuclear Weapons: helping the muslims build a satellite “Blue Mosque” in Syria, maybe a copy of the Iranian Tabriz “Blue Mosque”. Blue glass everywhere as raw mosaic materials!

An American infantry division with the correct mission statement and rules of engagement could sort out Iraq in a month. I don’t know what that mission would be, but I suspect the best thing to do would be to kill everyone who is opposed to Assad, so he can reestablish control, then leave.

Iraq: third biggest military force in the world in 2003 – defeated in three weeks. It’s not winning the war that was the problem – the problem was keeping the peace. Iraq was only held together by despotism and it showed. Syria is only held together by despotism – an enforced ‘democracy’ will only lead to more civil war.

That’s why I would just put Assad back in charge and let him do whatever he wants. As we are now starting to realize, by middle east standards he was a pretty good leader. I wouldn’t try to enforce democracy. Arabs are to primitive to do it.

You know Trump is not going to send any Americans into harms way unless he gets something for America.
      Take the oil.

No, Hell no! If the Syrians can’t do it or don’t want to do it, then sending in US troops in’t going to make a resolution, but will definitely prolog a long term resolution. And then we would be asked to take in even more Syrian migrants because of that involvement.

    • Linda1000

Hell, no is right. After U.S. involvement of some 15+ years in Afghanistan, 14 years in Iraq, and a few years in Syria, I think the U.S. has made enough of an effort to help these countries. Let them self-destruct as they will never change.

      • Watchman

Close the borders and let them evolve civilisation on their own, They shouldn’t take 3000 years to do it, as they have the hard-fought Western Civilisation as a template. No people in or out until then, only technology and materials transfers.

Do what the Russian Air Force did and let the Kurds mop up.

This is good news for Wynne and Justin. Now they can quietly support Trump but then tell the voters that Canada is NOT part of trump’s war in iraq .
Jean Chretien exploited the really stupid people in Canada when he sent troops to Afghanistan so Bush could send US troops to Iraq while Chretien also had our Navy in the iraq war that patrolled the Gulf for the USA.
But hey, the CBC also relies on the low IQ viewers and immigrants that have a short attention span and mentally lazy to do research.
Canada did have soldier on Iraq soil and the Navy helping the US Military effort in the gulf.
The House records will show the debate I watched where the NDP pressured the Liberals to reveal what Canada’s navy does with pow’s when they nab Terrorists for running weapons.
Alexia McDonough as well as Jack Layton had called it Bush’s war when they knew they didn’t contest our Navy being in the War. Taliban Jack got his name because he won that MP seat for Danforth when it had a pro-taliban afghan muslim population of refugees.
These pro jihadists supported the terrorist training camps in their homeland which helped train th 9/11 muslims that slaughtered 24 canadians that day.

I bet you didn’t see that on the CBC news back in 2001 .
