Twitter is ‘ghost’ deleting tweets it deems to be offensive without informing users

Twitter has begun to remove tweets which it deems offensive in a move to further punish abusive behaviour on the site.

The social network recently began limiting accounts after the use of language that Twitter feels is objectionable.

But in a further crackdown, individual tweets are now being removed from public visibility – without informing the people who posted them.

Let them try that with Donald Trump.

It looks like they’re also only allowing critics to reply to his tweets. There are virtually no supporting tweets on his twitter threads.

I don`t use twitter, never have, never will. Stupid waste of time.

    • Has its uses.

    • It can be a useful tool for getting information out quickly, especially in situations where the authorities might try to control the news. Most people use it for social purposes, which I agree is a waste of time.

The first three words of the headline presage their future.
    Twitter is ghost.

Twitter self-immolated the day after the November election when they went all “night of the long knives” on their own user base.
Now most tweets from people I follow don’t come through and almost nothing I tweet seems to be seen, everyone even slightly edgy has been banned multiple times.
Twitters best days are behind it!

    Twitter is committing suicide.

I would like to start a website that tracks the movements of Jack Dorsey’s family in real time and makes it public. With pictures of them all. If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear, Jack. And since he’s now a member of the board of directors of the Disney corporation, target all of them and all their families as well. Just let it float out there in the ether and wait to see what happens.

When you give people a platform to state their mind, quite often they will say things you don’t like. Who would have thought?

They’re also limiting the number of tweets shown in a timeline. You can’t scroll on ‘forever’ all the way to a person’s first tweet as there’s now a page bottom with a message about “Loading seems to be taking a while. [twitter may be busy etc.]” when I go to conservative/right tweeters.
