Vancouver Christians hike pressure against visit by Muslim-denouncing evangelist

Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson recently met with evangelical, Catholic and mainline Protestant leaders to discuss concerns about the visit of Graham, who regularly denigrates Islam, homosexuals, Democratic party politicians, and atheists.

It’s shameful how ignorant Christians are of their own history. North Africa was a Christian region until the muslim hordes swept through with their choice of conversion or death.

    • John

And then as now Islam’s inroads were only possible because of cooperation from local Christians. In North Africa, Egypt and The Near East, the invading Arabs were viewed as a counterweight to Byzantium’s imperial “oppression”. The Copts of Egypt, for example, welcomed them, only to find out their true nature after it was too late.

The gradual transformation of the Basilica of St John The Baptist in Damascus from an important Christian shrine into a Muslim mosque is interesting, to say the least, and it resonates with what’s happening today.

We need more Danas and Johns to open people’s eyes!!

        • John

Those in 7th century Egypt and The Near East who complained of Roman ( Byzantium’s) ‘imperialism’ and who welcomed the Arabs as liberators were the forerunners of today’s PC lefties.

The idiots welcomed the invading Arabs and spit on the departing Romans.

Their liberation consisted of little more than brutality, enslavement and forced conversions…not to mention outright genocide.

I don’t see why things would be any different this time ’round.

          Same old, same old.

Rule of thumb. When a politician wants to meet with Christian leaders, it’s because he needs them to condemn other Christians.

Another rule of thumb. They always fall for it.

Damn those evangelical Christians. Is there no stopping them. Why can’t they be like the Untied Church or the Anglican Church and not believe in God, and concentrate on issues that those churches focus on, like homosexual sex, global warming scams, whiny indians, and socialism.

Free speech can be a double edged sword. That being said, it still must be protected at any cost.

    • tom_billesley

Like a sword, don’t let it rust in the scabbard. Keep it polished and with a keen edge, and exercise with it often. I’d rather “free” remains a descriptive adjective instead of having to be an imperative verb.

  • ismiselemeas

As an atheist I’m shocked that a christian wingnut would denigrate me. Shocked I tell you!

    • tom_billesley

I thought that word had been banned.

      • Slickfoot

No, it’s OK to use the word ‘christian’ as long as it’s low case.

  • Alain

So the Tides mayor is in the news again. I thought he would have been far too busy implementing the UN’s Agenda 21.

  • Stuff like this always blows up in people’s faces.

This guy will be a free speech hero, write a book and make scads of cash.

    These nay-sayers have done nothing.

  • Gary

So why was it okay for Svend Robins to bash republicans, heterosexuals and jews.
Graham hasn’t even stolen a $60,000.00 rings yet and he’s now worse then Svend Robinson or Libby Davies the jew-hating 9/11 Truther that thinks that Bush and the Jews were behind it .

Yes that’s Libby , not Ned Beatty
