Never a super-glue gun when you need one… Mexicans stage human wall border protest against Trump

Thousands of Mexicans have linked arms to form a ‘human wall’ on the border with the US on the edge of the Rio Grande river. Almost 1.5 kilometers long, the human wall is protesting Trump’s plan to build an actual wall.

I think the protest was a good protest: nobody was beaten, no Starbucks windows were broken, no cars were overturned and burnt, and no ATMs smashed; Quite unlike the modern ‘peaceful protest’ currently organised in the US and Canada.

    • Mind you they don’t have a lot to smash in the desert.

  • Tooth&Claw

They think they have a right to transgress borders without consequence. They are a special sort of brain impaired.

    • Watchman

I used to think that countries having borders and border controls was stupid, but that was a very long time ago and I was young and uneducated then. I have since got a lot more more educated and a lot smarter since those early days: those early days before I knew about culture, taxation and welfare payments.

I’ve heard stories that the Canada – United States border used to just be a line on a map back before the Second World War.
If people wanted to move anywhere, they did.
Of course, this was prior to the rise of the welfare state.

I have records of my relatives crossing into the the US back in the 20’s so they were keeping track back then.

It’s the welfare, stop all social security and I am all for open borders.

        • Watchman

Does your ‘social security’ include housing and medical care? Are you in favour of unrestricted employment rights for non-nationals? Are there any requirements for employment like language? I’m just interested in your thinking.

          • Bataviawillem

Housing and medical care are not a government business in my mind.
If people can do the job they are hired, till proven otherwise.
If you don’t speak english you can’t be a person that answers the phone.
            It’s not rocket surgery.

  • Interesting factoids:

The famous Mexican-American farm Union activist — César Chávez — was strongly opposed to illegal immigration. The people he advocated for were LEGAL Mexican-American immigrants and U.S. citizens. Reason being, illegal immigrants depressed farm wages.

Also, for Mexicans to vote in a Mexican election, “…each voter is provided with a government-supplied voter ID card, which includes the voter’s photograph, fingerprints, and a holographic image.”

    • Bernie Sanders was in complete agreement with Chavez on that score.

  • glasnost

That protest was a waste of time; President Trump has been saying all along that he intends to build a humane wall.

    Who cares?

Borders are essential for any sovereign country. To storm a country’s border is an invasion.

  • josco

We’d be a lot less annoyed with them if they, say, said–we so appreciate your consideration of us as potential citizens that we’ll respect your laws–in fact, we’ll build the wall that you as free people voted on. We’ll show you that you will LOVE having us and won’t spend a moment having to support us!

Instead: We’ll demand that you take us in, give us SNAP and schooling; we’ll get paid under the table, we’ll scam food stamps and sell the food… because hey, you idiot gringos offered it. We’ll call ourselves Mexican and we’ll hate you whiteys.

  • Dana Garcia

This reminded me of the 1990 Lights Across the Border Campaign, when hundreds of conservative San Diegans lined up their cars along the border facing south and turned the lights on at night to spotlight the illegals swarming north. It was an early protest against the open border.

The difference is the Mexicans demand the right to invade.

I wonder if they’d all eventually turn into big agates and geodes…fossil mexicans, if we cemented them into the wall….

  • WalterBannon

You are clear to engage. Fire at will.

    It’s proving our case

So they form a wall to protest a wall ?
Do they beat their wife to protest spouse abuse???

    • dance…dancetotheradio

They were welcoming all the American refugees.

  • Shebel

I still say Korea has the answer . Walls are useless in this day and age.
Just create a ‘NO MANS LAND’ — it is cheap , efficient and it works.

Besides—- What is wrong with bringing in good Christian folk, born in the Americas . There are millions already here . In the USA . Why deport them ?

Why not ban all immigration from overseas ? Ban them ALL!
Lets make the ‘Americas’ — a ‘safe space’ for Americans.

To hell with these fuckers from across the Ocean.
