Toronto anti white, Islamophobia protest – photo gallery

Thousands gathered on Saturday, February 4, 2017 in front of the American Consulate in Toronto to protest the policy of US President Donald Trump.

The demonstration was organized by Black Lives Matter – Toronto (BLM TO) – the self proclaimed “coalition of Black Torontonians resisting anti-Black racism, state-sponsored violence and police brutality” – that has launched a nation-wide campaign entitled “National Days of Action Against Islamophobia & Deportations.”

Anti-Trump supporters were furious on social media with Lady Gaga for not being more overly political in her Super Bowl halftime set and not waging war with the President instead of belting out “Poker Face” and “Born This Way.”

The fact that the New York singer– real name Stefani Germanotta — who was an outspoken Hilary Clinton supporter during the recent election — didn’t rage against the President had social justice warriors … raging.


Going to Canada! African failed asylum seekers passing through Minnesota to get to border

I’m sure many of you are saying, let ’em go! Boy Trudeau loves refugees he can have them!

But, this story at the Minneapolis Star Tribune is at once informative and fishy.

Note that although the numbers of Africans crossing in to Canada from the US grew the most during the Obama Administration, the reporter, Mila Koumpilova, wants to make it clear that he/she thinks that things will get even worse under Donald Trump’s administration.


‘BECOME A SUICIDE BOMBER’ Posters Hit London

Posters calling on the public to “become a suicide bomber” have appeared at bus stops across London. The posters purport to be recruitment posters for the Royal Navy, but feature a picture of British naval servicemen in the crosshairs of a sniper rifle.

“The crew of our nuclear submarines are on a suicide mission,” the text reads. “To launch their missiles means death is certain, not just for them, but for the millions of innocent people those bombs will obliterate, and for the rest of us too.”

A high-level whistleblower has told this newspaper that America’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) breached its own rules on scientific integrity when it published the sensational but flawed report, aimed at making the maximum possible impact on world leaders including Barack Obama and David Cameron at the UN climate conference in Paris in 2015.

The report claimed that the ‘pause’ or ‘slowdown’ in global warming in the period since 1998 – revealed by UN scientists in 2013 – never existed, and that world temperatures had been rising faster than scientists expected. Launched by NOAA with a public relations fanfare, it was splashed across the world’s media, and cited repeatedly by politicians and policy makers.

Halifax police bow out of Pride parade amid ‘national debate’

A news release from Halifax Regional Police says the decision was made after several months of discussions with Halifax Pride.

Police Chief Jean-Michel Blais says participating in the parade may contribute to divisions in the Pride community, and stepping away from it will allow for meaningful discussions on the issue.


Facebook launches fake news filter in France

Facebook has launched a campaign to crack down on fake news in France, ahead of the country’s presidential election later this year. As Reuters reports, the social network announced on Monday that it will work with eight French media companies to fact-check and filter news articles that have been reported by users.


California State Senate Leader: ‘Half My Family’ Here Illegally

California State Senate President Pro Tem Kevin De Léon (D-Los Angeles) said last Tuesday that “half his family” was in the country illegally, using false documents, and eligible for deportation under President Trump’s new executive order against “sanctuary” jurisdictions.

De Léon, who introduced the bill, made his remarks at a hearing in Sacramento on SB54, the bill to make California a “Sanctuary State.”


Pro-Palestinian Holocaust Survivor urges Canada to “sweep away laws that victimize Muslims”

Suzanne Weiss is a Holocaust survivor and a Palestinian solidarity activist based in Toronto. Weiss advocates for the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel and accuses Canada of being “the world’s number one apologist for the Israeli government and its oppression of the Palestinians”.
