U of T free speech forum receiving ‘somewhat violent threats’ on social media

TORONTO – A free speech conference  to be hosted by two university student groups Saturday has received “pretty explicit, somewhat violent threats” on social media, organizer Aaron Gunn says.

The executive director of Generation Screwed said he’s concerned about security as his group partners with Students in Support of Free Speech (SSFS) to co-host the 2017 Toronto Action Forum at University of Toronto.

“Hopefully they have something better to do on the Saturday than come to our event but you never know,” Gunn said, of possible protesters.
