French soldier opens fire after attempted machete attack by Muslim shouting ‘Allahu akbar’ in Paris

A man has attempted to attack a French soldier with a machete near Paris’ famed Le Louvre art gallery.

The soldier opened fire in self defence near the Carrousel du Louvre shopping centre at around 10am local time (9am GMT), police said.

Michel Cadot, the head of Paris police, said the man was shouting “Allahu akbar” and injured the soldier’s scalp.

Louvre evacuated after soldier shoots man who tried to enter the building with a suitcase

The Louvre art gallery in Paris has been evacuated, amid reports a French soldier opened fire after being attacked.

It is believed a man armed with a knife tried to enter the famous landmark with a suitcase, and tourists have reported that a number of shots were fired.

After being refused entry, he pulled out the weapon and was shot by a soldier, according to sources at the scene.
