Free societies aren’t naive, or racist

“…There are some Muslims in Canada who are out to get us, and others who want to impose sharia law or enforce the niqab. We can debate and resist them.

But those of us who would have our security and police forces clamp down on Islamic extremists have a double obligation to ensure that peaceful Muslims are not caught up in that dragnet.

That’s a distinguishing characteristic of a free society.

That said, the flip side of wrongly lumping all Muslims together is the tendency by politicians and media elites to refuse to acknowledge the threat of radicalized Muslims, for fear of being thought of as politically incorrect.

Political correctness – and the mush-mindedness and willful blindness it brings – is as much a threat to our security as Islamophobia is to civil rights.”
