UN Withdrawal: Never Wound a King

American should not withdraw from the United Nations without first ensuring that the organization cannot retaliate.

I like it.Destroy it from inside.

Expel the UN to some third world world “leading nation of tomorrow” where it can work its magic expertise first hand. Brazil, India, and China could draw straws for who goes first, second, and third for a 25 year gig.

    • Norman_In_New_York

The UN will simply move to Geneva, where it already has offices.

      • dance…dancetotheradio

        Aren’t the Swiss xenophobic?
I’m sure they don’t want a bunch of third worlders running around.

  • Manual Paleologos

It can’t retaliate. We damnear fund the whole damned thing.

  • WalterBannon

a well laid out plan, as long as it starts with starving the UN of cash by not paying any fees to it

  • ntt1

the article makes some good points but assumes the UN will continue after losing 22% of its budget and its home. I don’t think it will.
it will be destroyed by the same tribalism that keeps its security council members countries in squalor

    • dance…dancetotheradio

Replace it with an association of democratic states with restricted membership.

      • Justin St.Denis

        Restricted to actual democracies.

Not very “inclusive” of us, I know. 😉

        • dance…dancetotheradio

I naively believe that some nations might change a few things if they wanted to gain the benefits of belonging to our club.

      • Clausewitz

Been saying this for years. Lefties think I’m crazy, people with a brain like the idea.

Used to have a UNICEF box on Halloween.
Won’t let my kids wear one, now.

    • Ego

The OIC will be happy to contribute that missing 22% in exchange for continuing to operate the UN.
The article’s author is right: the UN must be forced to live up to its own high standards (it can’t), and shown up for the unprincipled and corrupt organization it is.

I’m not convinced of that The saudis are hurting with the low petro dollar and they have a huge non productive burden called the arab male that gets paid to do nothing but swan about wearing table cloths and buggering goats. over the years the saudi payroll has snowballed top the point that national security depends on keeping the useless perfumed “shepherds” happy

        • dance…dancetotheradio

I am optimistic that this will cause a repatriation of capital to Saudi Arabia as they have to Divest assets to prop themselves up.
One reason I never worked for the Fairmont Hotel in our city was because I knew they were owned by ayrabs.

          • ntt1

that scenario would be helped by freezing saudi assets pending the outcomes of the first civil trials against them for supporting 911.

I agree with your points, but consider this:
          Currently, the UN can
          – preach from an unchallenged moral high ground
          – define public discourse on countries’ behavior
          – get members to mob up against other members (like Israel)
          – foist legislation on member countries (e.g. labeling of Israeli products)
          – retroactively overwrite its own earlier resolutions
          – cause severe harm, even mortal danger to countries it mobs up on

The UN is currently under the control of the OIC working on implementing sharia in non-Muslim (!) countries—you can find its “10-Year Programme of Action” on the Internet. Every Westerner should read it. The current news on Israel confirm that the OIC is succeeding, and the next 10-year plan is already in the works.

Maintaining control over an international body of such force and capabilities is of immense worth to the OIC (as well as to deluded Western politicians worldwide for whom keeping the UN alive is a question of life or death).

So I think they will be happy to pony up that 22%.
Not doing so would render them irrelevant overnight.

          • ntt1

But if the US leads the west out of the UN then by all means let the OIC take control but they take control of a crashing ship with very little fuel left. There would be an almost total loss of legitimacy a current false legitimacy that is bolstered by the Western Hemispheres involvement. Remove that and it’s over except for the shouting.

          • Ego

What you say won’t happen automatically, and bodies that big have their momentum that will keep them going for quite a while, despite the US withdrawing. (Just think of what Merkel and the rest would be capable of to keep it running.)
That is why I think the article’s author is right: the US should make sure to leave the UN only after proving it to be morally rotten and rendered unable to cause any serious harm to any nation any more.

          • ntt1

how will that come to pass if everybody keeps winking at the absurd focus on Israel?

          • Ego

Israel is just the most recent glaring example of what the UN is willing to do to enforce its narrative. It’s not about Israel, but Israel is THE polypathological test case highlighting everything that is wrong with the UN.
You will see plenty of other examples hitting the headlines once the US exits (probably followed by other states—elections this year in France, The Netherlands, etc.).

          • ntt1

once white built western cultures depart it will turn into a third world mess and fall apart. little better than the united tribes with the oics pathology on top as icing.

          • Ego

Israel has survived for well over 5,000 years, most of them extremely hostile to Jews, and for more than half that time, Western cultures didn’t exist yet.

  • Norman_In_New_York

Trump says things are going to change at the UN once he takes office.

    • dance…dancetotheradio

Trump says lots of things and for the first time in my life I believe what a president is saying.
And that includes Reagan, by the way.

      • Clausewitz

I call it the Mike Harris affect.

  • Justin St.Denis

    Recipe for USA regarding UN:

    Starve it down

    Carve it up

    Kill it piece by piece

Just as the League of Nations failed, the United Nations, built on the foundations of the League — same building in Geneva and the same organizations and structure — has long demonstrated its flaws. It is doomed. Dead man walking (barely).

    • Brett_McS

It would be interesting to hear the details of how the League of Nations was actually destroyed. May give some clues.

      • Waffle

I think then, as now, starry-eyed idealism blind to the truths of reality, eventually corrupted by money.

  • Kellman Amos

The US can close or deny any embassy on US soil. It just heaved some Russians out didn’t it (one of the lame-duck president’s parting shots). Cut off the utilities to the UN building and then declare the building uninhabitable. It’s past time the worthless eyesore came down anyway.

    • ntt1

let trump redevelop it . they could put in honking big imax theatre in that huge empty auditorium.
