$25 basic TV can’t stop customers from cutting their cable in record numbers

The lure of a $25 basic TV package has not helped stem the tide of Canadians cancelling their cable subscriptions. And critics believe the added pick-and-pay channel options coming next month may not help much either.

Canadians continued to cut the cord in record numbers following the launch of the CRTC-mandated basic TV plans on March 1.

This is according to Mario Mota, with Boon Dog Professional Services, an Ottawa-based research and consulting firm. Mota crunched subscriber numbers for Canada’s seven major publicly traded TV providers, including Bell, Rogers, Telus and Shaw.

He found they lost a combined total of 98,476 TV customers in their first two fiscal quarters during the period of March through September.

That’s a loss of 13 per cent more customers than the same period in 2015.

WTF! Obama to import 1,800 Muslim illegals from Australia

The United States and Australia are close to announcing a deal in which the U.S. would resettle hundreds of asylum seekers banished by Australia to Pacific island camps, a newspaper reported today.

The U.S. had agreed to accept up to 1,800 refugees held for up to three years at Australia’s expense in camps on the impoverished island nations of Nauru and Papua New Guinea, The Australian newspaper reported.

Most of the asylum seekers are Muslims from the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Prime Minster Malcolm Turnbull declined to comment on negotiations with the United States.

Iran Breaches Nuclear Deal – Again. What’s Next?

This is not the first time Iran has violated the terms of the flimsy nuclear agreement with no consequences. In February 2016, Iran exceeded its threshold for heavy water as well. In a previous article, other violations and reports of Iran’s recent cheating and breaches of the nuclear agreement are laid out.

U.S. President Barack Obama is nevertheless ignoring these latest violations, and the UN and IAEA reports as well. In fact, the administration, and State Department spokesman Mark Toner, are defending Iran on this issue, and appear willing to give critical concessions to Iran in the next round of talks in Baghdad this week.

Baltimore Sun Columnist: I am More Afraid of White, Legal Gun Owners than Actual Murderers

The Baltimore Sun recently published an op-ed that is both maddeningly idiotic and hilariously ironic regarding the city’s incredible amount of gun violence.

In the piece, columnist Tricia Bishop claims that she is more afraid of legal gun owners than she is of those who illegally purchase and use guns in the inner city — you know, the ones who are actually murdering people.

Lets stop there. That alone is ridiculous. Not only are her fears statistically ludicrous, but they serve just to compound the fears Americans have against legal gun owners. These people want one thing, to get guns outlawed, and they’ll spread as many lies as they can to make it happen.

THERE GOES THE NARRATIVE: Gang-Bangers Fired Shots At Anti-Democracy Activists in Portland

The men who opened fire on anti-democracy activists blocking traffic on a bridge in Portland (OR), injuring one, have been arrested. It isn’t going to help the narrative that the mainstream media is unsuccessfully trying to push that Trump supporters are the problem.

A video taken by one of the protestors—which included protestors and their supporters admitting they were too lazy to vote in last Tuesday’s Presidential elections—helped identify the suspect’s vehicle and captured the sound of the shots and the pandemonium afterward.

Newsweek Believes Trump is a Threat to Freedom of Press

With little more than two months before Trump takes the oath of office, the threat to the media—and the public’s right to know—is reality. However, President-elect Trump may find a thicket of laws and Supreme Court precedents limit his maneuvering—slight comfort for those working to protect a free press.

At the president-elect’s often incendiary rallies, Trump frequently blasted the press as “dishonest,” “disgusting” and “scum.” The crowds that gathered to watch him would often turn and jeer at the reporters, hemmed in the press pen.

On the internet, the vitriol from Trump fans continued. In April, the journalist Julia Ioffe received a barrage of anti-Semitic abuse and death threats after she wrote a critical profile of Trump’s wife Melania for GQ magazine. In October, a Trump supporter sent Newsweek ’s Kurt Eichenwald ( who has been vocal about his epilepsy) a video that triggers seizures. Other Newsweek staffers have received anti-Semitic slurs on Twitter and memes about hanging journalists from trees.

This Young Gal Has Some Choice Words For Trump Protestors

Language warning: Not safe for work or kids because some of those words start with the letter F. But she’s kinda funny while making a good point about how stupid these people are acting.

It’s comforting to see that at least some of America’s youth are grounded in reality and haven’t abandoned common sense.

She goes by the screen name ShoeOnHead and has a number of videos in which she takes Liberals, trannies and feminists to task for basically being dumbasses. So do a YouTube search and checkout her other videos.

‘Us versus them’: Programs mend strained relations between Indigenous, newcomer communities

The relationship between Winnipeg’s newcomer and Indigenous communities is often a strained one, marked by stereotypes and misinformation, but a number of organizations are trying to calm the discord.

However, some say it will take active participation from everyone to break down the misconception, educate one another and make things better.

“Unless it’s a conscious, consistent effort by everybody at a community level, it won’t reach its full potential,” says Warda Ahmed, community recreation co-ordinator at Social Planning Council of Winnipeg.

Pegida calls on Toronto Mayor to ban a book “condoning wife beating”

Pegida Canada, a grassroots organization warning of the danger of radical Islam to Canada’s values and freedoms, posted on November 12, 2016 an open letter to Toronto Mayor John Tory, urging him to take an action against the distribution of a book that condones wife-beating under certain conditions.

The book entitled “The Quran” includes modern interpretation of the Quran, including of the verse that deals with disciplining rebellious wives by striking them lightly (“ it must not be severe or damaging and that the face be avoided”).

The book has been handed out by Muslim activists at the Islamic booth located at Toronto’s Dundas Square.

Suicide by democracy

We are living in an era of dis-ease. Our belief systems are under attack. We witness the horror of terrorism spreading in countries who do not share our values, as well as the spread of terror in democracies around the world. We are up against tribal societies whose ethic is one of honor and shame and where blood revenge is in the veins, where violence begets violence that, over time, can lead to a sense of helplessness, hopelessness, and victimhood. At the same time, too many of us born into freedom have become apathetic to, even neglectful of, the very ethic that underpins that freedom. And we are in the process of being abducted by a policy of “diversity.”

Muslims coming to the West talk about our diversity. In Canada my Prime Minister tells us that diversity is our most important value. Yet the people to whom he is reaching out are the very people who will not tolerate diversity.
