Norway to send back Somali refugees

Norway has decided to withdraw the residence permit (PUT) 1,600 Somalis and send them back to their homeland again, writes Norwegian NRK.

The reason is that the Norwegian Government believes that Somalia is now so safe that Somalis have no grounds for asylum.

Sylvi Listhaug Progress Party is Norway’s immigration minister:

– There has been an assessment of the situation in Somalia and we look to the law for protection grounds changed, she explains.

– The Government has given instructions to the Foreign Ministry to initiate a process of withdrawing residence permits.

So far, 120 Somalis are notified that they are going home. Another nearly 1,500 are thus in turn also sent back to Somalia.
