As a bird lover I am highly offended that anyone would appropriate the name Cardinal.

    • disqusW6sf

      Or Bluejay. Good one topposter.

  • What about the Patriots and the Vikings? Are they upset?

  • Clausewitz

And they wonder why Americans think we’re a bunch of idiot Rubes. FFS.

    • WalterBannon

Electing Trudeau and Wynne is what makes Canadians ignorant rubes…

      • FactsWillOut

Those acts are they symptoms, not the disease.
Canadians are a pretty sanctimonious lot, it seems, and even on the right, most of them believe most of the BS spoon fed them by the MSM.

        • disqusW6sf

          Really?

          • FactsWillOut

            Yep.
Most think bullying on school grounds and teen pregnancy are “problems” than should be “addressed”. Most think guns, tobacco and booze should be heavily regulated by the state.
Most think single-payer health care is a good thing.
            Most think SSM exists.
…and now I learn that some even think Spain should ban bullfights.

          • disqusW6sf

            You’re Canadian, right?

          • FactsWillOut

I live in Canada, and have Canadian citizenship, if that’s what you mean.

          • Justin St.Denis

Pretty much sums up my perspective, too.

          • disqusW6sf

            I guess.

          • Clink9

They would be Official Lefties if they believe that.

          • disqusW6sf

            That’s what I thought.

      • Clausewitz

        That too.

    • moraywatson

Not so fast. This same handwringing idiocy is rampant in the US of A too. The Washington Redskins have been put through this wringer, to mention but one.

      • Clausewitz

But the only idiot to not call the Red Skins the Red Skins was a Canadian broadcaster on CTV back about 5 years ago. Can’t remember his name cause I watch so little of the MSM channels these days, but he would only call them the Washington Professional Football Club.

        • moraywatson

Huh? Google ESPN and Redskins and update your understanding.

    • Minicapt

      … Washington Redskins …

      Cheers

  • WalterBannon

Ha! Make them play in generic plain t-shirts. Anything to rattle them! Hope they organize some protesters to show up too. As Alinsky says, never let a crisis of any kind go unused.

  • ontario john

If whiny indians want us to treat them realistically, maybe the shirts should have a picture of indians burning a priest at the stake. That would be more historically accurate.

    • Waffle

Cardinal is not your typical “whiny Indian”:
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Cardinal

      • Alain

No, he is a professional activist.

        • FactsWillOut

I prefer the label “commie rabble-rouser”, or, in a better world “Inmate”

          • Justin St.Denis

            ROFL

        • Waffle

The Happy Hunting Ground for old architects?

  • Norman_In_New_York

If this suit is upheld by the court, I hope the Tribe sweeps the series.

    • barryjr

      I hope they do anyways.

    • disqusW6sf

I appreciate your point but I’m hoping Blue Jays. Although it’s not looking so good right now.

  • mobuyus

These politicaly correct assholes ( I suspect more white progressives than actual Indians behind this) have just jinxed the Blue Jays.

  • barryjr

People of south Asian descent are upset that Siberian Americans have appropriated the name “Indian” for their own use. When will the HRC hear that case and give back the south Asians the name and all related benefits that were stolen from them by the Siberian Americans?

  • JaedoDrax

A smart judge would dismiss this for lack of standing, since there doesn’t appear to be any discrimination, and then award costs to the defendants.

A canadian judge will likely twist themselves into pretzels to find against the defendants.

    • A Hamilton Guy

Considering the quality of those who have passed judgment in the news lately; He’s got a good chance of winning.

  • Frances

Has the injunction been granted? Have heard it was.

  • SDMatt

Cleveland, whose road uniform doesn’t have Chief Wahoo or the word “Indians” should change the team name to the Cleveland Shiftless Drunken Indians.

I hope this injunction goes through – we need idiocies like these to come out so that they can eventually conflict with one another (see BLM vs Gay Pride).

  • SDMatt

Idiot Toronto Mayor John Tory is on TV saying the Edmonton Eskimos need to change their name: “have a contest, make it fun.”

How can it be fun when fun-killing blancmange concern trolls like Tory exist? The Edmonton Wimpy Beta Male Tories?

    • FactsWillOut

I’d go with the “Edmonton Illiterate Concussed Negroids”

      • BillyHW

They do seem to play more football than those eskimos.

  • SDMatt

Damn! The SJW morons on CITY News just announced it got dismissed.

The judge didn’t want to reveal Ontario’s idiocy to the world, I suppose.

    • Clink9

It never should have made it this far.

I’m proud of my Indian name: Stands With Beer.

  • ontario john

How about changing it to Muslim Savages. We can even have beheadings at halftime.

  • BillyHW

    List of Indian inventions:

    • Clausewitz

Pemican. Real vile shit that you’d only eat after consuming the dogs.

  • Minicapt

Perhaps he should improve his business practices:
    1. “After contractual disputes, Cardinal was removed from the project in 1998 before it was completed, but he continued to provide input into the building’s design.”
    2. ” Early in 2009 the firm’s contract was terminated with the owner, and all construction activity was halted, due to undisclosed differences between the two parties.”

    Cheers

The word Indian was signed into Canada’s updated constitution in 1982 by the federal government and representatives of native community. Canada also has a ministry of Indian affairs. Indian is enshrined into Canadian law. Having said that would they prefer the Cleveland Indians had a mascot character like this one! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSSBqjTOcVM
