Bumbling asylum seeker burglars mistake grandmother on stairlift for a GHOST

The burglars were still running and shouting “Allahu akbar” when they were spotted by police in the rural community of Frankenmarkt in Upper Austria later that evening.

But what the pair didn’t realise was their ghostly apparition was merely the 84-year-old homeowner descending down the stairs on her chairlift to take on the thugs.

The two men had broken into the house in the early evening, believing it must have been empty as they couldn’t spot any lights coming from inside.

…When officers checked both men, they noticed that the older man’s hand was badly cut – an injury caused as he tried to flee through the window in a panic.

He was still shouting “Allahu Akbar” while police tried to arrest the men, but both were later overpowered and arrested.

It is believed the two men, a 34-year-old Tunisian and his 21-year-old Moroccan accomplice, were in Austria to seek asylum.                  h/t tom_billesley
