Terrified commuters were forced to leave the Bruxelles Nord Station in the north of the city as officers investigated.
The country remains on high alert following a bloody terror attack at Brussels airport in March, killing 16 people.
Belgian train station evacuated after ‘two police officers stabbed’
The officers were attacked at a checkpoint outside Brussels Nord Train Station which was being swept for explosives after bomb threat was made earlier in the day.
The suspect, who then tried to run away, was shot by police in the leg and is being held in custody.
