Economists have a message: Clinton’s policies are wrong for America
On Monday, I joined with 305 economists from universities, think tanks and businesses across the country to convey a message to the American people: “Hillary Clinton’s economic agenda is wrong for America.”
Our statement, printed below in its entirety and signed by some of the county’s most prominent economic theorists and practitioners, bemoans how “misguided federal policies have produced one of the slowest recoveries on record.” It warns that Clinton, the Democratic nominee, “promises to repeat almost all of [President] Obama’s policy mistakes” and her “outdated policy prescriptions won’t return our economy to the faster growth rates it once enjoyed.”
While Clinton offers more of the same, we suggest an alternative. “What America needs, and what Americans deserve,” says the statement, “is an agenda of economic freedom: limited but effective government, policies that rely on and strengthen markets, pro-growth tax reform, sensible federal spending restraint, regulatory relief, sound money, and freedom to trade.”
Thousands of women storm Saudi King’s office demanding basic freedoms
Thousands of women in Saudi Arabia have taken their fight for basic freedoms directly to the King.
Around 2,500 protesters bombarded the King’s office over the weekend demanding an end to the highly restrictive male guardianship system, while at least 14,000 others signed a petition.
Activist Aziza Al-Yousef, who was arrested in 2013 for deliberately breaking the country’s ban on women driving, started the petition.
EPA accused of ignoring environmental racism
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Civil Rights office is “practically toothless,” and has failed to hold polluters responsible for disproportionately impacting low-income and minority communities, says the US Commission on Civil Rights.
The EPA’s Office of Civil Rights has skirted its duty to investigate and enforce violations of federal law that prohibit recipients of federal funding from discriminatory acts, dismissing nine of every 10 complaints that have alleged environmental discrimination, the commission said in a report released Friday.
The office “has never made a formal finding of discrimination and has never denied or withdrawn financial assistance from a recipient in its entire history, and has no mandate to demand accountability with the EPA,” the commission wrote in the 230-page report that was sent to the White House and to top members of Congress.
Swarthmore student called ‘white b*tch,’ told ‘kill yourself’ over op-ed that upset liberal peers
Reaction to a Swarthmore College student’s recent op-ed in the campus newspaper about the preppy liberal arts school’s need-blind admissions program has been so vicious and severe — cyberbullying, a message telling her she should have her tongue removed, a note saying “kill yourself bitch” — that the column’s author has left campus.
Erin Jenson told The College Fix her Sept. 12 column in the campus newspaper, “The Admissions Office Doesn’t Care About Your Values,” argued that the same colleges encouraging students to challenge anything perceived as privilege do in fact check the privilege of their applicants through complex formulas that ensure a certain percentage of students admitted will be paying full tuition.
A New Jersey native, Jenson also bluntly criticized peers in the op-ed, saying “hyper-liberal classmates … resent the upper class at its core” when they ought to say “thank you so, so much for being forced to pay for my opportunity.”
Muslim Savagely Beats Ex-Wife For Wearing Cross Of Jesus – Gets Away With Community Service
A 40-year-old Muslim man from Eritrea was sentenced earlier this month for assault and unlawful threats after he embarked on a frenzied attack on his former wife because she was wearing a cross.
The man noticed that his former wife wore a necklace with a cross and told her to take it off but the woman, who is a believing Christian, stood firm and refused to obey his demand.
The 40-year-old Muslim then grabbed her by the hair and pounded her head against the stove so hard that the stove actually broke.
Canada moves to regulate vaping products to help protect young people
The Liberal government says it plans to introduce legislation later this fall to regulate vaping.
Health Canada says the move will balance the need to protect young people from nicotine addiction while allowing adult smokers to legally buy vaping products and e-cigarettes to help quit smoking or as a potentially less harmful alternative to tobacco.
In a statement Tuesday, the department says it is also renewing the federal tobacco control strategy for one year, giving the government time to develop a new long-term plan.
US Muslims back Clinton, Trump ‘bigoted’
A Muslim-American lobby group is endorsing Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and vowing to “work to mobilise Muslim Americans across the United States to defeat Donald Trump this November”.
Emerge USA declared its support for Clinton on Tuesday, six weeks before the November 8 general elections.
The group describes itself as the largest Muslim-American political action committee at the national level with a mission of “politically empowering” Muslims in the United States.
Bigoted? Or onto your BS?

Homegrown terrorists to target concerts, sporting events, DHS warns
U.S.-based terrorists are likely focused on mass killings at festivals, concerts, sporting events and other outdoor events, says a confidential report by the Department of Homeland Security’s intelligence and analysis branch
The Sept. 23 warning was issued in the wake of a string of bombings in Manhattan and New Jersey for which an Afghan-born Muslim, Ahmad Khan Rahami, was apprehended in a gun fight.
The report says the “most likely tactics” would involve “edged weapons, small arms, vehicle assaults and possibly IEDs [improvised explosive devices], said the report, a copy of which was obtained by The Washington Times.
The Islamic State terror organization has urged Muslims on social media to use vehicles to achieve mass killings, as was done in July in Nice, France, by an IS-inspired killer.
