France: Muslim sets fire to 3 churches… Nothing to do with Islam says prosecutor

The suspect was arrested as he left St. Francis Church, Monday around 17 pm. Around 14 h 30, he had tried to set fire to an altar dedicated to St. Anthony, the church Notre-Dame-de-Espinasse. Two people had extinguished the flames with holy water. A first fire – the most serious – had been dispatched to 13 pm at Sacred Heart, where another altarpiece of Saint Anthony was partially destroyed. The young man of 22, a Moroccan national, was already known to justice for voluntary departures of fires committed in Paris and Millau.

For his part, Frédéric Coulomb, the representative of the Public Ministry, firmly ruled out any act “to radical Islamist or connotation.” But he described the accused as dangerous ( “can be described as pyromaniac”) and required nine months of prison custody, care obligation and monitoring social justice for five years.

Evidently there is no “pattern” to his pyromania…
