Trump is scheduled to speak Friday, September 9 — just 59 days before Election Day. Pence will speak Saturday. This will be the first time a GOP presidential ticket has addressed the event since its inception in 2006.
Both major party nominees have been invited to make their case to social conservative voters, but pro-abortion Democrat Hillary Clinton is not expected to attend.
“As the 2016 presidential election approaches, there is a growing realization among voters that the future of our freedoms and even our identity as Americans hangs in the balance. I am certain that Donald Trump and Mike Pence will underscore not only the importance of this election, but the important role conservative Christian voters have in influencing the outcome of the November election. The fact that this is the first GOP presidential ticket to attend since the Summit’s inception in 2006, demonstrates an understanding of the importance of values voters in the general election and a desire to work with them in addressing the critical issues facing our nation,” said Family Research Council Action President Tony Perkins.More.
Reality check: This is probably smart on the part of the Trump campaign. The doomed, traditional GOP tended to sneer at values voters but use them anyway.
Today, when euthanasia is the new pension plan, the traditional GOP voters will be fighting for their lives, for the right to the health care they expected and were willing to pay for.
It remains to be seen whether Trump and Pence will spell it out for them: Thanks to progressive government, we are all “the fetus” now.
