Police shut 800 clothes shops in Iran for selling ‘inappropriate’ goods

The crackdown, which was reported by Iranian state media, is believed to be on Western-style outfits and clothing that doesn’t meet Islamic requirements.

It comes after authorities passed new regulations against ‘manteaux’ coats in July, a trend for clothing with English phrases on the back, short arms and no buttons.

canada climate change taxesWho will pay when NDP’s carbon tax chills business climate?

Albertans know the NDP’s carbon tax coming January 1, 2017 will cost us hundreds more annually on personal items like bills and fuel but businesses will also have to raise their prices to deal with increased transport and other hidden costs which they’ll pass on to consumers.

The NDP are killing business and investments with corporate tax hikes, property tax hikes, additional costs to businesses in the form of the minimum wage and other taxes that will make life a lot more expensive for citizens.

Hacker3Orwellian: Feds Spend $500,000 to Tap “Extensive Tracking Infrastructure” to “Combat Online Trolling”

The National Science Foundation has issued two quarter-of-a-million-dollar grants for “Leveraging Personalized Internet Services to Combat Online Trolling”.

The grant defines online trolling as, “scenarios in which various groups deploy tactics to influence public opinion on the Internet, by leaving biased, false, misleading, and inauthentic comments, and then artificially amplifying their ratings,” so you can immediately see where that’s a slippery slope to shutting down free speech and dissent because who decides what is “false, misleading, and inauthentic” online?

islamic libraryOklahoma: Police question man who asked library to stop promoting Islam on cars

One Norman man is pushing to see the image of a hijab-clad woman removed from the Pioneer Library System vehicles. He said the image has no place on a government vehicle, because it promotes Islam and is therefore unconstitutional.

“How can they promote Islam on the side of a public vehicle in Norman Oklahoma,” Chad Grensky said. “I don’t understand it. It makes me sick. I’m not anti-Muslim. Our tax paying dollars fund these vehicles and they feel the need to promote Islam on the side of these cars. And that’s not right.”

trump-black-pastors-749x480Democrats Are Freaking Out About Donald Trump’s Outreach to African Americans An Ongoing Saga

Blame shifting and whining about Republicans. Democrats govern every black demographically dominated area. Democrats alone bear the responsibility of black dominated failing cities and black voters refusing to take responsibility for their own bad decisions in keeping these Marxist ideologues in power.

Jackson went on to whine about the Republicans in the Federal Government, which has its own history of discriminating against black people, essentially blaming them for all of the Democrats are having in these failing cities.

heatwave.jpg.size.custom.crop.1086x718Can we please start planning for the extreme heat ahead?: Mallick

The summer of 2016 is nearly over. It may turn out to have been the hottest August in history but does it matter? The summer of 2017 is going to be hotter and more glutinous than this, imagine that. Each month and year is yet another domino falling in the measurement of heat, which is just one of the symptoms of climate change.

Around the world, water levels rise, people die of heat exhaustion, droughts cause starvation, forest fires make the air filthier, sea ice melts, walruses have nowhere to go, algal blooms kill fish. I read these deadpan lists in the Guardian’s excellent climate change section—Today in Grim Reaping should be the title—and then think of smaller local problems.

refugee boatsSome blunt truths and a ray of hope for the refugee justice movement

“I wouldn’t be a journalist if I didn’t think that reporting the truth doesn’t lead to change – maybe not right away, or quickly, but eventually. That doesn’t seem to be the case here, and frankly, it shakes my faith in what I do,” Marr said. “It used to be that when the boats went away our fears died, but that’s not the case anymore. The nation’s attitudes are set fast: stuck at cruel. The press and politics have failed to budge public opinion, and the courts have failed as well.”

The director of legal advocacy at the Human Rights Law Centre, Daniel Webb, maintained that “slowly but surely, public opinion is shifting”, and proposed framing refugees more as a potential economic asset rather than a humanitarian responsibility, opening the door for private sponsors and a reallocation of the skilled migration quota to include refugees.

Is it the job of the press and politics to change public opinion?

building-collapse tel aviv-635x357Palestinians – And Israel Haters – Celebrate Tel Aviv Building Collapse. And Then….

Today in Tel Aviv’s Ramat Hahayal neighborhood, there was a tragic building collapse at a construction site, killing at least 2 construction workers, and injuring 24 others. 7 are still missing, with rescuers fearing for their lives (3 had been trapped inside the building, but were rescued, and another 21 managed to escape).

When news of the tragedy hit social media, the feeling in Israel was one of sadness, as well as fear and hope for the well being of those in the building.

On the Palestinian and general Israel-hating side, there were many celebrating the tragedy, or indifferent to it.

refugees at nightFrance Deploys Army After Migrants Cause Car Crashes Trying To Hijack Rides Britain

A group of journalists from the Daily Mail narrowly escaped death last week when a group of migrants threw a log at their car, forcing a crash with a 38-ton truck in Calais. The tactic of hijacking cars with logs and branches have become increasingly common in recent weeks, with about 30 barricades taking place each night.

“Migrants are throwing tree trunks, branches and shopping carts at cars on the motorway,” said Jean-Marc Puissesseau, president of the port of Calais, according to the Sunday Express. “It is very dangerous.”
